Chargers Practice Report: Clary, Patrick Return. Dunlap, Rinehart Still Out

Jeromey Clary is back on the practice field. He hurt his “Ryan Mathews” but is back on the offensive line blocking for Philip Rivers. He returned for a portion of practice today. That has to help his chances for returning to game action.

The other offensive line members are still working on the side field though. Chad Rinehart is still on the side field with his toe injury.

King Dunlap still is not on the practice field because of a concussion he suffered against the Tennessee Titans. If Dunlap is unable to get out on the field, the Chargers will rely on Mike Harris all over again. Harris has been getting a lot of action for the team .

CB Johnny Patrick was back on the football field for the Chargers as well. That should help the depth in the secondary with Shareece Wrgiht also returning.

At least we have some players healing up. It would be nice to have our starting offensive line ready to play for Sunday, but we have to work with the people that can get out there.

HAHAHAHAHA he hurt his Ryan Matthews. Damn that shit is funny!!! Glad to get at least 2 back out there! Hope Dunlap can make it back out there soon, but it is not looking promising.

  • Cgoodness13

Lol hurt his Mathews. Good stuff Ernie

  • 619chargers4life

I’m going to be pissed if Clary comes back and all of a sudden our OL struggles

    • Bolt fan

      I could see it happening.

  • Boltfan

Is it starting to feel like Dunlap might be “Gaithering” or do we wait another week on it?

    • http://boltbeat.com/ Ernie Padaon

i dont think i would go with that at this time… especially with all the concussion rules that are in place right now

    • John Alton

Have you been on another planet? Concussions are a brain injury and the NFL is not playing around with it. Big Lazy milked a fake back injury.

      • Boltfan

        Another planet…oh that stings!

        • John Alton

Do us all a favor, watch the weekly press conferences with Mike McCoy. That way you can avoid posting something stupid like you did.

    • Stefanie Smith

Hey, he brings up a legitimate consideration. The concussion rules have a component that is solely subjective —meaning that the player alone says if he still is having issues. It is not totally based on a medical exam. When people with concussions are coming back in a week or two and Dunlap is still out.. you start to wonder. And don’t blame him or me, There are articles about it. Just like Gaither could say his back is bothering him, a player could say he is still having headaches or doesn’t feel good.

Why is that such a bad thing to bring up?

  • Rob Base

Just read that Freeman would be a good fit in SD as backup for Rivers. Clipboard or Freeman?

    • http://boltbeat.com/ Ernie Padaon

      I wouldn’t want him

    • Gunnar Martin

IMO, we are already carrying too many quarterbacks. If we cut CBJ, then Sorensen would fill in the job well.

      • Stefanie Smith

No need to cut CBJ, as Sorensen still cannot do what Rivers does—i.e. read and dissect the defense. Something to be said regarding not having the pressure of starting while a rookie learns. Granted, I doubt that CBJ would be able to read the defense like Rivers is doing either.

But don’t ever think Sorensen would have over a 100 QB rating coming out of the gate, like Rivers has right now.

        • Gunnar Martin

I just see it as we’re screwed if Phil goes down. Won’t matter then. At least we can open up another roster spot and save some cash if we only keep one backup.

    • TheReturnOfMrBlanks

I think it would only be a good fit for Freeman and not anyone else, of course he could get some coaching from PR17 and maybe have Whiz and MM redo his entire QB game but that sounds like a lot of work for a backup guy and would only benefit Freeman’s future, not so much the teams.

    • Nick in PB

Not at all. I would still take CBJ and Sorrensen. I think that Freeman has lost it. He does need a change of scenery but not here.

  • Gunnar Martin

At least we’re not playing one of our more competitive games of the season this week. Will be tough playing without so many guys out with injuries and new starters in place (cough English cough). Hope all of our O-line is back by the Colts game.
