Mike Florio from Pro Football Talk is going to open up the flood gates with this one. Florio just posted that the Jacksonville Jaguars should just have a fire sale and mentioned that the team should trade Maurice Jones-Drew over to the San Diego Chargers.
YUP… The San Diego Super Chargers!
MJD can’t rush the passer. He can’t cover a wide receiver. He can’t play outside linebacker..
BUT, how prolific would that offense be?! Ryan Mathews has been a disappointment for our offense. He can’t break loose in the open field and can not make anyone miss when he gets to the second level. There is always fear that he will put the football on the ground when he is carrying it and he is one trip away from breaking his 4th clavicle.
MJD would be an amazing player to add to the offense and it could make some sense. The Chargers have no cap room and need a ton of help on the defensive side of the football, but might as well make our offense as good as it can be while we have Philip Rivers playing like an MVP!
I definitely am off in lala land with this idea and I wouldn’t hate it at all. How can I hate the idea of adding a playmaker to an already prolific offense? I will never hate the idea of adding playmakers.
What would it cost to bring in MJD? He is in the final year of his contract and the Jaguars likely would not be able to keep him around. I wouldn’t want to give up more than a 4th round pick for him.
He is coming back from a Lisfranc injury and hasn’t proven that he can run the football. He has a terrible team around him, but that 2.4 yard average is frightening.
