Fozzy Whittaker Claimed By Browns

The San Diego Chargers released Fozzy Whittaker over the weekend in order to make room for OT Nick Becton and Whittaker was claimed by Norv Turner and the Clevleland Browns today. I know there were a ton of Fozzy fans out there, but he is now going to be used in that Norv Turner offense and will likely disappear into oblivion.

I was hoping that the Chargers would get a chance to bring him back, but he is on someone else’s squad now.

God damn it. Piece of shit Norv!

  • TheReturnOfMrBlanks

F’n Norv keepin tabs on us. At least for Fozzy besides kick returns he might get some actual game snaps for the 1st time in his life. Watch him be Darren Sproles jr lol. Good luck to you Fozz!

  • Thomas87

… Def not worth releasing fozzy for becton.. Fozzy had alot of potential but now we get to watch him fly on the browns.. Sigh

    • Nick in PB

We brought Becton up from the practice squad. He was our only O Line backup Sunday after Ohrnberger went down. It was a numbers thing. Make room now and worry about the rest later. That’s how thin we are on the O Line. Damn injuries forced this move.

So am I going to have to be the first guy on this topic to call the browns a idiot for trading Richardson?

    • rh

Lol you would be the only one lmfao

  • FitzWilly

If you love something, set it free
If it doesn’t come back, stab Norv in the neck with a rusty shank
    God Speed Fozzy

    • Peter Thompson

I thought you handled that very well, Fitzy. Sting would be proud.

Why did we release Fozzy? Of all the players on the roster, why release one that somebody might actually want. Seems like this was a real bad move.

  • Joel Ayala

NORV YOU TURKEY NECK PUSSY GO TO HELL. !!!! LOL. What a jerk. bit oh well. now we need to find a Pass Rusher to help is out.

  • shane

don’t get why everyone loves fozzy…he has a cool name, the end. ps player last year, unclaimed…solid preseason against backups. i like michael hill more…who was just signed by the packers…he’ll have a better nfl career, mark my words

    • FitzWilly

      whatever dude

    • Brandon Rios

Michael Hill sucked. He dropped a few passes during pre season that were gimmies.

  • alejandro

how about if we replace him with Jewell Hampton (49ers Practice squad), or Edwin Baker from the Broncos practice squad.

    • Stefanie Smith

Edwin Baker was, at one time, with the Chargers’ practice squad. I thought he was pretty good.

  • arnie

Honestly I get it. Don’t like it but get it. If someone had to go, why not Tutu? Has anyone seen him on the field? Has he had any catches? Whether we agree or not, Fozzy kept kick duties away form Royal, who is much more valuable in the passing game. Want proof? Royal caught 3 passes Sunday and was crucial in 3rd down conversions as Woodhead. Since he had return duties, his time on the field, with Rivers was reduced. On top of that, the extra hits cannot be good for Royal staying healthy

    • Nick in PB

Good point Arnie. I don’t like it. Now, if Mathews goes down, what do we do? We like splitting the carries.

    • Ernie Padaon

But Woodhead took the return duties for Fozzy and Royal was in his normal punt return spot. If we cut Seyi, we only have 3 healthy receivers on the roster

      • arnie

Gates, Green, Phillips, Mathews, Woodhead, R.Brown, are doing great job picking up that slack. You can’t ignore Royal had a limited role in he passing game.

        • Trey P

Good Royal had a limited role hes not that good lol..Get them others some experince!

          • Stefanie Smith

Royal is not that good? Tell that to Rivers.

          • Trey P

Now u see Royals not thst good lol

  • Nick in PB

I have a feeling the Chargers had hoped to bring him back. Too bad. I liked the guy. Sorry he went to the Browns.

    • Ernie Padaon

      I had that same feeling

  • JoseSD

Am I missing something here? Why does everyone think this is a big deal, he did well against 3rd stringers in the preseason, he had one big kick return in which he fumbled the ball, all his other kickoff returns were almost as bad as Goodman’s and I think around 40% of our kick returns this year had a holding penalty. He wasn’t gonna see the field much being 4th on the depth chart and every week Woodhead is getting more and more reps. I was never a big Fozzy fan unlike most here, I get he kept Royal fresh but he only did kickoff returns not punts. Its not a big deal to me that he’s gone. Someone tell me who could have been released instead? Tutu?.. and leave us with with only 3 healthy WRs. Crezdon Butler? This last game proved we needed him with Wright out and Cox getting injured. Now we only have 3 CBS and Gilchrist. The only other possible options are either Gachkar or Bird and Gach is a phenomenal special teams player

    • Peter Thompson

I agree Jose. McClain would be called into duty before Fozzy would. I really wish him the best, because I think he can make it… but, he was a luxury, and we can’t expect the backup o-line to perform as well as they did against Dallas every week, and hope nobody else gets hurt. Nick Becton is a necessity, which (in itself) is scary as fuck… lol.

  • rh

You guys need to be happy for Fizzy, he on a winning team now.:-)
