Expectations For Manti Te'o

Manti Te’o is getting his first start of his career and will be on stage in front of America’s team. There are big expectations for our 2nd round draft pick. Some fans have already been saying his name in such a manner to rhyme with a former Chargers linebacker that used to wear the number 55. That is a lot of expectations to put on a man.

He is not going to go on the field and be Junior Seau. Everyone has to be their own man. Manti Te’o needs to play his game. He needs to keep putting in work and keep studying to be the best linebacker that he can be.

It will be his football instincts that carry Te’o. In college, he was able to read the offense and understand what they were trying to do. He always had been a step ahead on defense and will need to be a step ahead on Sunday against the Dallas Cowboys.

The Cowboys have a good running game and a good quarterback. DeMarco Murray and Tony Romo can do great things at their positions. We are going to need players on the defense to make some big time plays on Sunday. Hopefully Manti Te’o can get in on the mix and live up to expectations.

He will have his struggles. All rookies do. We just need him to counter some of those mistakes with a few plays that show that potential.

I honestly don’t know what to expect from him….the way Pagano is calling plays I have no confidence on that side of the ball….it’s unfair to expect anything from any player on D with the plays that have been called so far….

Hey we will finally have a guy on the field that can read what the offense is doing!
Butler and Manti are going to be huge for everything on the D.

I hope he stays healthy, doesn’t get hurt, works hard and makes some plays. However, like cgoodness13 says, it is hard to get all excited when Pagano is calling some really weird stuff on the D. It’s up to Pagano how well T’eo does and what he contributes.

Personally, I have little expectations. If the Chargers win, I will be happy. It’s a burn out getting all worked up about the Chargers. Just win, so I don’t have to read about goofy Chiefs fans thinking they are going to knock Manning out of the box on their way to the SB. After all, they beat the Jags and they are ready for the SB now.

Hoping this kid at least gets a pick off of Romo. I want to see him avoiding or coming off blocks too. And if he can cover Witten over the middle that would be a good game for him.

i would have butler play man and have teo zone the middle since that what he did in ND.

  • Trey P

Hes Gonna Be The Peyton Manning of The defense watch!!Hes gonna know everything dallas is running!

  • Alter Ego

I have DROY expectations – I believe we go 2-2 after Sunday and I believe Te’o will play a significant role in our team victory.

Unless the D-Line starts performing, with emphasis on Cam, I’m not expecting much of anything form Butler or Te’o! It’s hard to make a play as an ILB with your NT sitting in your lap.
On the other side of the ball, I hope the backup on the O-Line step up and handle their business this week. If not, this has the potential to turn into an unmitigated disaster!!! #GoBolts!!
