Manti Te’o, King Dunlap, Shareece Wright Injury Updates

Manti Te’o was a full participant in practice today. It was the first time that he had seen that type of action since his injury in the preseason. His status for Sunday is looking good.

The status on a few other players is not looking so good. Jeromey Clary has an injured clavicle and did not participate in practice. He will likely be out on Sunday and the Chargers will have two new starters on their interior line. Chad Rinehart is likely out also.

Shareece Wright and King Dunlap did not participate in practice either. These are some big time injuries that the Chargers will need to overcome. There is not that much depth around the roster, especially in the secondary.

That offensive line is really banged up.

Damn sucks for Clarey, can a lineman play with this type of injury?

    • tubbs45

no way. that is a lot of shoulder force to with stand even if it is not a complete break. If he can, kuddos, but I dont think any doc would clear him.

      • arnie

Put a clamp on it, an suck it up.

        • tubbs45

Duct tape and a paper clip, it’ll be fine…

  • PakMaN

    CHAOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • rickochey

Can we trade for Joe Thomas from Cle?

    • TheReturnOfMrBlanks

Trade what? Although that would be awesome he is the 1 guy on that roster you keep when you hit the reset button.

      • tubbs45

Trade picks. but can we afford his salary?

        • arnie

nope. need those picks for 2014.

          • tubbs45

I would recommend picks, just saying thats about all we could give for JT.

          • TheReturnOfMrBlanks

a team with No depth can’t trade picks for anything, need all 7 to get 7 bums off this roster lol.

          • arnie

What Mr. Blanks said. I’m not in favor of trading away the future, to win a few games.

          • rickochey

well if we can get a Real good LT in JT for a 1st than that might be worth it. He’s young, experienced and able to make an immediate impact. There is nothing but positives with this move. CLe might have to throw something else into the mix for this to be a balanced trade.

          • arnie

Except the obvious, his salary. The Chargers just made moves to clear room to re-sign player like Butler. Taking him on could put that in jeporday. Again, not willing to trade away the future, to win a few games. Stop panicking, the players we have are doing a great job. Let them continue to do it.

          • rickochey

They did not make room under the salary cap in the preseason to make room for the salary cap next year. All that room was made for THIS year. The chargers have (6) picks and they can’t be gambling with ‘potential’ talent. They need proven talent and guaranteed talent with those 6(?) picks. The chargers gain the money back from Meachem and Gaithers next year which is $14mil combined. C’mon Man

          • arnie

You are incorrect but whatever. Are you saying they need proven talent like Meachum and Gaither? The Chargers just got off that train. If i have to make an assumption, it’s you who doesn’t trust the talent on the roster and that’s fine. I’m going to go with the Staff that put together a roster that only managed to lose two games by 6 points, and the o-line that is 4th in fewest sacks, and 1st in fewest QB hits.

          • rickochey

Arnie Arnie Arnie,,, How quickly your mind forgets. I’ll make sure you don’t remember the early years with Bulter/Aj when we were on that ‘train’ and was kicking ass with Foley, McCardell, Oben, I won’t remind you that right now Denver is on that ‘train” and before Denver it was the Pats who were on that train. lol… I hope they are not paying you for your service.

“Jeromey Clary has a broken clavicle and did not participate in practice. He will likely be out on Sunday”.

That’s a broken collarbone, right? He may not play for the next 8 Sundays, if I’m not mistaken. I mean, is it fractured, or broken? And when did THAT happen?

    • TheReturnOfMrBlanks

Right??? Secret injuries keep piling up! Damn the O-line is not going to be pretty on Sunday, might give Rivers a case of the 2012 yips lol. F’ing injuries! We have to be leading the league in the Injury department, funny thing is we might be last in trying to bring in guys to replace our injured ones, teams are bring in dudes every other day……..Not us I say, Not us. That is unless everything is a freakin secret and even Bolt fans have no clue who is coming in to work/try out.

    • arnie

Steve Schiling, Mike Harris, Johnny Troutman, Rich Orhberger, to the rescue
      NEXT MAN UP!

      • TheReturnOfMrBlanks

Next man up might not be a good thing at all in this scenario.

        • arnie

It’s all we got. These guys are professional Football players. And on any given sunday you can get beat. I understand what they are facing, and this isn’t where the Chargers would like to be. Everybody gets injuries, an nobody feels sorry for us. In the past i would be worried, because norv would only play the starters in camp. McCoy has rotated all these players with equal time and only the Starters were chosen from the best rotation. I don’t believe Troutman, Harris an Orhnberger are back-ups because they suck.

          • TheReturnOfMrBlanks

If Rivers gets sacked 5 plus times with all of them coming from the backups can we then say they suck?

          • arnie

Sure, because then it’s warranted. Harris went in last week and i could hear the moaning an groaning on how we were screwed. Not one Hurry, not one sack from his side. Let them play first, before we flush the whole season.

          • I_Bleed_Powder_Blue_801

            Harris did look good…

          • arnie

Hey Harris surprised even me. We have a new year, new regime, new team. We may not like the players we got to work with, but does anybody? All i’m saying is let these guys go out an play, prove they suck first, before we throw in the towel without them even taking a snap.

I guarantee you, if Harris had given up one sack, one hurry, this site and across the web would have been flooded with articles on how terrible the O-line is. Yet he goes out there, does his job. Not one peep. I’m just going to show what little faith i have that TT and MM know what they are doing, and will expect more of the same from the back-up O-linmen.

          • I_Bleed_Powder_Blue_801

what is your take on Gilchrist? Would putting him in Wright’s spot and starting Addae help??

          • arnie

I believe they tried that experiment, and signed another FA CB. At the end of the day Gilchrist is a good nickel guy and he is better when giving help or getting it. As far as being on an island as straight up CB, he’s still got some work to do. The Chargers seem to be playing four down linemen two LB and 4 DB. In that formation they need Gilchrist to cover guys on his own, IMO they are handicapping him with the soft cushion of 5-10 yards. The SS is coming over late, Butler is dropping into coverage, a lot, so Weddle can’t be everywhere. I’m in the middle of the road as to whether it’s scheme, or player. They are trying different combinations, put Gilchrist out there with the two new CB FA that were signed. Or marry him and Addae and go nickel to let Marcus do what he excelled at. Either way they are not getting any pass rush up front and they are not playing 3-4 with 4 LB. So screw it. Go nickel and don’t give offenses open targets to throw to, and in the process they might give the 4 Down linemen and LB that isn’t dropping into coverage, the extra second to get there.

collarbone. happened during the game on sunday

    • Tyreece Kaete Sr.

      Yes when did that happen

  • I_Bleed_Powder_Blue_801

WTF? may as well tank now…..get those high draft picks….

    • TheReturnOfMrBlanks

I’d hate to start rooting for losses but if we get to 1-5 or 1-6 I might be down, the shittiest teams are going to need a QB and might leave a nice group of top position players for us to choose from. Is Nix the NT from ND considered a top 10?

      • I_Bleed_Powder_Blue_801

I hate being the glass is totally frickin’ empty guy man, but that game was so not right…
        They gave it away….
Until they turn it around, it’s Ground Hog day for us fans….
Yes, Rivers is getting better, now that the OL is riddled w/ injuries again, how long will PR17 last? Praying they don’t get the snot kicked out of them vs. Dallas….

  • I_Bleed_Powder_Blue_801

trade away RM24 & get some WR or OL help…hell CB too while were at it…

    • Tyreece Kaete Sr.

RM24 is looking nice this season

      • I_Bleed_Powder_Blue_801

it’s too bad they don’t use him enough, this has been the Philip Rivers show since LT’s decline….

        • Tyreece Kaete Sr.

True but hopefully he gets the Rock more because hands down he’s been running with pure determination

  • I_Bleed_Powder_Blue_801

no more thoughts of hand job trophies….gag balls and lube is about it…..

    • TheReturnOfMrBlanks

you and these HJ trophies lol

  • MachoMenos

Didn’t McCoy say that he DIDN’T have a broken clavicle?

    • http://boltbeat.com/ Ernie Padaon

He did… Will update the post

  • Nick in PB

Now it’s Clary? WTF. That dude has never been injured that I can recall. We are hurting on that line. What a shame. Really, this season really needed to be injury free for us to be successful. I like the whole next man up thing but our next man up is not something I can feel comfortable about.

    • Tyreece Kaete Sr.

      Right

  • Michael Popowich

So defense might be better, but the oline is hurting. We need to score to beat Dallas, but hopin Rivers will be protected.
