Keenan Allen’s Opportunity Is Here

Not sure how long Malcom Floyd will be out, but it does seem that Floyd could be out for a good amount of time. That injury did not look pretty and Floyd could be sidelined till our BYE week or even longer. There has been no official timeline on his return though. I just know that he has a neck and possibly spine issue and he is sitting in a neck brace at the moment. That sounds and looked like an injury that takes longer than a week or two to recover.

With Malcom Floyd going down, the Chargers are going to need someone to step up in the receivers unit. The next man up is going to be rookie Keenan Allen.

Allen stepped up to the plate when Malcom left against the Eagles and made a pair of grabs. He totaled 34 yards for an average of 17 yards per grab.

He has always been one of my favorite players going into the draft and I think that he has a ton of potential. He will make his rookie mistakes, but he also has the ability to make some really special plays. It will be interesting to watch his development while Malcom is gone.

    Go get em lucky #13!

  • Ioane

He looked good on those grabs that he had. I’m very excited to see both Keenan and Manti in action. Both players have the talent to be very special.

    • tbell11

Stole my comment haha but yea I agree

  • ECAVILLE/Ace of Spades

Keenan will ACE this test. Instant play maker. #13

  • TheReturnOfMrBlanks

Keenan and Brown are both playmakers and I hope with this new offense they will be getting a bunch of shots at scoring a grip of TD’s. Now is there time to shine!

With Manti practicing tomorrow would he be able to play Sunday or maybe sit another week and come back in week 4? His coverage skills are exactly what we need right now, Locker isn’t much of a deep ball artest, I think we can contain him pretty well. Especially if Britt keeps popping off and gets benched!

    • joerockt

I swear, Britt has the Titus Young playbook out…

      • TheReturnOfMrBlanks

Britt needs to be on a team that his QB will make him better then he actually is like Brady or Brees. Locker just aint doin it for him at the moment. Oh well not our problem lol

        hahaha… right

    • http://boltbeat.com/ Ernie Padaon

it depends on how he does in practice

  • joerockt

The kid will ball out. Excited for him.

  • TMcC

I honestly wouldn’t be surprised to see him as the top reciever after this game. I think we has equal talent to Malcolm and can easily fill the deep ball threat. Bold prediction: #13 goes for over 100 yards and possibly a deep TD… Call me crazy…

    • 12

He doesnt have the speed to run straight and burn but he can create seperation like a muddafugga when he cuts thats what makes him so good, Funny how no1 brings up Boykin taking care of V.Brown but he tries to cover K.Allen and hurt himself doing it, thats how you know this kid is a beast

      • http://boltbeat.com/ Ernie Padaon

who cares about straight line speed when you can create some separation… dude can also make some moves in the open field. He is not going to run away from many people though

        • 12

We need a deep threat, Meacham was suppose to be but hes shit and were paying for it in the cap space and we also need a fast corner who can cover deepthreats, me thinks it could’ve been Steve Williams but hes injured, i know he was a rookie and suppose to be a nickel but our secondary cant keep up with the likes of DJax, Steve easily runs a sub 4.4, as fast as Djax, with the way the 2ndary been playing, even a rookie like Williams should get a try, Wright is as good as not being there as hes there being the number 1 corner.

  • John Alton

Everybody needs to calm down. This kid is a rookie with what, 2 quarters of game experience. So don’t get all freaked out if he is not the greatest of all time in week 3. I know some of you will.

  • Alex Pitrofsky

I’m so excited for this game. My Dad, Brother, and I are all flying out to Tennessee to watch the Bolts kick some ass

    • Gunnar Martin

      Lucky son of a gun

  • Daryl Peek

Really wish we would’ve kept Mike Willie on the practice squad. Were down to four active WR on the depth chart with M80 hurt. I wonder if Clemons could be activated? Interesting tidbit, Josh Bellamy the other practice squad WR, worked out as a DB in KC with Eric Berry and crew.

    • Efren E Sicat

Tutu is still on this roster.. and will suit up and make some noise this weekend

  • tubbs45

I hope they are working some ’12′ packages, with Keenan or Royal, VB with Gates and Green… Nasty, nasty, nasty…

    • Gunnar Martin

      Ohhhh yeeeaaaahhh

I like me some of them apples.

    • http://boltbeat.com/ Ernie Padaon

      could be so good

I can’t wait to see Keenan Allen in action.

  • Gunnar Martin

Go own em like you did at Cal, KeONAN ;)

    • http://www.BoltBeat.com/ Peter Thompson

      Yes!!!! You used it!

      • Gunnar Martin

I use it all the time now. It’s epic.

  • S.Bolt

Need to bring in another receiver for depth. I like Lavelle Hawkins. We saw him against the niners & per-season the kid has talent & is a great route runner

    • http://boltbeat.com/ Ernie Padaon

i would love that pick up… a guy that can help on special teams and has that ability to make people miss when he has the ball in his hands

  • Alter Ego

Props to the O Line – PR – McCoy and Whiz … they have made this possible. Keenan gets his wish in week three to start. He will make a great impact for us.
McCoy rocks…we are a special team with him.

  • 1961 Fan

Forget all the comments Keenan just show us you are a better than a third round pick.

  • Michael Popowich

Chargers did the right thing by drafting a receiver up in the draft.
