Chip Kelly Didn’t Know Rule On Critical 4th Quarter Drive

Down deep in the 4th quarter of yesterday’s game in Philadelphia, the Eagles were down by 3 points and were driving and hoping to get the go ahead score. They were down deep in the red zone and Mike Vick was trying to make a play to his receiver, but was slammed down hard on the play by Chargers DE Jarius Wynn. He was slammed down so hard that he was taken off of the field and the Eagles had to use backup quarterback Nick Foles for a play. It helped kill any momentum that the Eagles had built up on offense. It was a huge moment in the game.

Apparently, Eagles head coach didn’t know that he could have used one of his time outs in order to get Mike Vick back in the game.

“I didn’t think we could,” Kelly conceded on Monday. “That was on me. I should have asked. … It’s difficult for anyone to be snap familiar with every rule because the rule book is so thick. ” –

I am happy he didn’t know about that rule. I would rather see Nick Foles make an attempt in that situation rather than having Mike Vick’s abilities on the field.

    • Ernie Padaon

      hahaha… those cards were funny

    • Stefanie Smith

Omg, that would have been hilarious, if our guys started putting up those cards. MM would never do it because he is polite, but would have been outrageously funny.

That’s odd… I thought he had plenty of time on his hands to brush up on the rulebook. After all, he wasn’t worried in the slightest about beating us, or having to load up on us to stop the run. I believe the exact words were “I didn’t think I had to”? Figured he coulda squeezed some study time in there, if THAT was the case ???

Just face it…. YOU GOT WHIZZED ON… you fat, rose-faced, cocky little man!!! Bwahahaha! You gladly bought into the smoke that the NFL hacks were blowing up your big round ass… about how “impressive” your team looked, and how “awful” ours looked!
In case you don’t know what I am talking about, Ernie wrote a piece on it here ; )

I am sure one of his coaching staff or even one of the players was telling him about the rule, but he is one of the members “I’ know it all” Society. So, he probably wasn’t even listening or paying attention.

    Haha sucker!

Vick just got slammed, when he came back got close but no completion. You do the best you can with what you have. Vick had his best game and the D lost it. Any DB’s that can not grab looking for work. Could have had a flag on almost every pass play. HELP WANTED!
