Chip Kelly Response To If He Would Load Up On The Run Against The Eagles, “Fortunately, I Don’t Have To”

Philadelphia Eagles Head Coach Chip Kelly was asked if he would load up against the run to try to stop his team and he responded “Fortunately, I don’t have to.”

THAT MUTHA!!!! Throw me a freaking bone here!!!

A lot of us saw what the Eagles did on Monday Night right before our debacle. They are going to run that ball often. Lesean McCoy is going to get a ton of reps and they will be using that read option to get Mike Vick out in space also. We will get some of Bryce Brown, but he isn’t one of the guys we will be too worried about.

We definitely will have to slow down that run. Lesean McCoy ran wild on the Redskins defense. He racked up 180 yards on the ground. He even looked like he needed a breather in the game. We are going to have to contain that somehow.

McCoy is ridiculously elusive with the football in his hands and in space. Chip Kelly is making sure to get him out in space on offense also. We better have those guys that can make open field tackles out there. McCoy will make some of our guys look silly.

My prediction: Chargers 45 Eagles 38 in a all out war of scoring.

    • http://boltbeat.com/ Ernie Padaon

that is the way it has to be

  • http://boltbeat.com/ ChargerGirl Cindi

Oh no he di’ent! It’s not like the Eagles looked awesome. Washington sucked.

    • Stefanie Smith

      Exactly.

    • http://www.BoltBeat.com/ Peter Thompson

      Uh-Oh…. he went there.

  • Cgoodness13

Of course Kelly doesn’t have to, the refs will do it for him

  • Moby Dick

If the Chargers are going to win, they cannot turn the ball over or have many short drives. I don’t see this. The Eagles 3-4 is meant to be opportunistic and it’s hell on TE’s, so Gates is going to have some trouble getting open, leaving Rivers in a bind. And traveling coast to coast on short notice with no real prep time against this complicated offense that runs super fast, the Chargers are in big trouble. It’s going to be a blowout, sorry Chargers fans, they are in trouble for this game, everything is against them.

    • Aaron Johnson

Everything is against San Diego? I doubt it. The teams needs to play well for 60 minutes but I dont consider this the “blowout” game people are making it up to be. The evidence is that Chip Kelly runs a lot of plays and barely wins (at the NFL level). There is 1 game on the books for his NFL career and that game wasnt a blowout.

Im not saying we will win by any means but I really can’t see a blowout from the Eagles.

      • Moby Dick

        (1) short week
        (2) traveling west coast to east coast
        (3) not enough time to analyze Chip’s complicated offense
        (4) 3-4 defense works to mobilize TE’s, and Gates is SD’s best player imo.
        (5) Norv is gone.

I’m thinking 45-21. Too much going against SD here.

        • Nick in PB

You have to remember, if it’s that complicated, the Eagles don’t quite know it yet either. I can’t predict this game because I really don’t know what the Chargers have yet. They looked great for a half. I can say this, in my office pool, 95% (of the entire public, not my office) were picking the Eagles at home. People seem to be enamored with the Eagles fast paced offense. I’m not so enamored by their defense. I’m hoping the Chargers are just plain pissed off by what happened last week and they take it out on the Eagles.

          • Moby Dick

Well, if SD can prevent turnovers and sustain drives (unlike the 4 3-and-outs in their final 5 possessions against Houston) then this could turn into a slugfest. I am confident Eagles offense will overcome SD’s speedy linemen, and if Rivers and Co. can get their passing game going, it would be a fun game to watch, high scoring and exciting.

        • http://boltbeat.com/ Ernie Padaon

Ummm… Norv is gone should be a positive

    • boltingindiego

dude the washington te reed was open on the eagles through out the 2nd half.

      • Moby Dick

Eagles defense played zone 2nd half with a 33-7 lead. It almost bit them but that’s what they did. RGIII did not hit his TE’s anyways, it was mostly WRs.

        • boltingindiego

there te’s caught 7 passes almost 1/4 of passes so they did use them. its not hard for te’s to get open against a 3/4 d.

      • http://boltbeat.com/ Ernie Padaon

        Truth

  • Stefanie Smith

I remember when KC played the Saints or maybe it was the Packers. The odds were so against them. In fact, they did not do much after that. They won. Any given Sunday. If these guys give it all they have, it will be a good one.

    • Nick in PB

Yes Stefanie. That game ruined a lot of people in their suicide leagues. I survived it but more than half bowed out on that one game.

  • Thomas87

The eagles looked beat up during the game vs redskins… Vick was hobbling and was hit 20 something times. The RB had alot of carries and looked worn down Forsure .. I think this will be a very interesting game.. I see the bolts coming off the loss ready to show them who we really are as a team.

  • tubbs45

I hope that lights a fire under Mathews ASS…. Bust some mother fuckers up in there Fluker… I want to see a damn yellow brick road to the end zone. Make sure if your going outta bound stop by Chip and drop an elbow….

      hahahahaha

Yea I don’t think you understood the question that was posed to Chip Kelly. Read it again.

I really liked the recent chargers.com article, our coaches really know what we have to do to sustain the lead. We know how to put up massive points, but now we just need to keep the score up by having long sustainable drives. As said by wisenhunt. It’s true, we were too urgent coming out of the second half, and I think that ken wisenhunt is right. We need to have long and sustainable drives. Simple as that. Keep the oponents offense off the field because offense minus time equals to less opportunities to scoring

  • NativeSanDiegan

This type of game will elicit big-time betting in Vegas and Atlantic City. Not just who wins, but by how much, the over/under,…
I predict the casinos win BIG. Eagles could still win in a relatively low-scoring, close game. Chargers could even win. Betting will be through the roof. Just saying…

    • NativeSanDiegan

I could be way off…we’ll know in a few days.

    • Stefanie Smith

Let’s hope the refs aren’t putting money down. We already know how that goes.

      • NativeSanDiegan

        Hi Steve,
Way off target back when we gave up our 4th rd pick to move up a bit to draft Te’o you warned of his possible distraction to the team. I didn’t reply because I wanted/ hoped for the best for this young man (at least I hope he’s mature enough to be called a man). You may have been right. Guess we’ll see just as we will Sunday against the Eagles.

  • tbell11

Its hard to say this, but I saw Chip Kelly destroy teams, like my USC, and his offensive fire power is insane. He likes his team to be in better shape than the other and will run like crazy. I know everyone was like damn that’s a deadly offense, but we haven’t even seen everything and I’m scared for the Chargers man. I hope I’m wrong and the Chargers can hold off D-Jax and McCoy, but this might be a blowout. For Fantasy purposes, I need this to be a low scoring game lol.

  • Jonah Lee

1 NFL game and Kelly thinks he’s unstoppable?! Chargers will put him in his place. The D-Line suffered during the Texans game but that’s bc Corey Luiget was recovering from shoulder injury. There wasn’t as much rotation in the front with new players added to the roster, but they should be up to speed getting to the know the defense by now. I hope Freeney and Butler saw that comment from Kelly, that should light a fire!!!

  • Moby Dick

As an diehard Eagles fan, I am pissed off. However, I must give SD’s offense credit, Rivers played great. The Eagles defense is looser than a South Philly hooker at the 1st of the month. Anyways, congrats SD, played well.
