Chargers Make A Round of Cuts

The San Diego Chargers made a few cuts today. They aren’t complete, but there were some notable names on the list. The Chargers cut Max Starks and saved a couple of million with that release.

Still puzzling is the fact that Robert Meachem still has his job. The Chargers still have more cuts to make though. Let’s see if he survives that round. With all the injuries to the receivers on the roster, they may need that depth on there. I am sure they could sign some dude off of the streets that could do a better job though.

Here is a list of the other cuts:

Cornelius Brown, CB
Sean Cattouse, S
Phillip Dillard, LB
Greg Gatson, CB
Jerrell Harris, LB
William Middleton, CB
Dan Molls, LB
Randy Richards, T
Stephen Schilling, G
Max Starks, T
Luke Tasker, WR

Was hoping Tasker would make it though I knew it was a long shot. He has his dads heart so I hope he does well.

if nobody claims him, he could be back on the practice squad.

  • Rob Base

Cut Meachem and Clip Board Poser next please!

    • Lee

not clipboard. he may have had a bad game against seattle but he has been fairly solid ever since

Exactly… his downfield passes still need work but on his intermediate routes, his throws were on a rope! Just like Rivers, he needs time. After the Seattle game, I was down on him big time but he bounced back strong with hardly any help from the o line.

i agree. Time to move on from Whitehurst. He’s OK, but nothing special. Sorensen seems special to me.

    Cut Me-A-Chump
Fozzy and Stan Jr for Mayor :)

Actually there is a clause the meachum could be released, and not pay him 5 million. i forgot the details but it depends on the language of his deal. but in the mean time i think the Chargers may be freeing up money, and could “defer” part of the hit to next season. In the mean time here is where they stand.

The donkeys released Lance Ball. WOW!

    • John Alton

They went with the young players. Lance still has some mileage left.

      • Daryl Peek

My badd, I was confusing him with the rookie Montee Ball.

        • Gunnar Martin

Hahahaha we all do it every once in a while

Tebow cut by the Pats. Anyone think McCoy is looking? Run out the room to avoid verbal hanging *looking from afar*
