Manti Te’o Likely Out Against Arizona Cardinals

Manti Te’o is still in his walking boot and still is not practicing. He likely will miss the game on Saturday against the Arizona Cardinals.

This definitely will be a tough game for the rookie to miss. The ones get a lot of playing time during the third preseason game of the year as it is the dress rehearsal for the season. Te’o has only played in a few snaps this preseason and will have to get up to speed in the final preseason game of the year… if he can get back on the field by that time.

There are a lot of expectations from the rookie this season. With Te’o out of the preseason, Bront Bird will get the start in the middle of the defense next to Donald Butler.

Never wanna see a player rushed back but Manti needs to get some game reps before the season starts.

I’m ok with him resting, but he needs to be sure he’s up to NFL speed before week 1 vs texans

Too bad. And is it just me or is Te’o coming off like a boy among men? Guy needs to cut the humble act and get that fire lit that he had with the Irish. No one is going to give him the leadership position, he needs to take it, rookie or not.

hmmmm… interesting… i can see how this can start to build. Fluker did come out with that fire. I will wait to see his play on the field before anything really though

I agree. I was on record as not being a fan of the pick, I am holding most judgement until the first few games.

LB’s need to be nasty and have swagger. I’ve seen neither from Te’o. But we shall see.

I understand what you are saying and I see that he is sort of shy. I think he is like that right now because of this “catfish” scandal and they have told him to take a back seat–maybe a part of the rookie hazing. If he gets out there, then we can see.

He does look a little intimidated by the whole thing. But I can see how he feels like that, seeing all his teammates getting destroyed. To me, he seems a little nervous.

Darn. At least he will be a surprise to the opposing team when he gets back.

I was hopping to see what he’s learned and if he could apply it. The Young man has still got an uphill climb, however there is something there. This would have been a nice game if it was going to surface.

Bront Bird needs reps too. Especially if Te’O is going to need to “get up to NFL speed”. Combos of them both are in our immediate future. Te’O should be a good starter, but we need to be patient… give him a little time. I understand he is a high round pick, and we all want him to contribute now. But, there is still a lot of learning to do… even if he never sprained his foot there would have been. Expecting “too much too early” will get you exactly what you deserve.. disappointment. Having said that, if he is still looking rough after 5-6 regular season games.. time to start getting disappointed.

I’m taking as much mental reps as I need. Blah blah blah get on the field dude! He doesn’t play against the 9ers next week his ass better be ready for the Texans week 1.
