The early signs are positive for San Diego Chargers WR Eddie Royal after his injury during practice on Saturday, per Pro Football Talk.

“Eddie (Royal) went up for a ball, caught the ball, landed on his back and felt shortness of breath,” McCoy said. “He had a little bit of a hard time breathing. We’re going to take him to the hospital and check him out. That’s all I’ve got right now. I can’t tell you anymore. I don’t know a whole lot about it.”

It is definitely a scary scene when a player has to leave practice in an ambulance. Eddie Royal is expected to get a lot of playing time this year. There have been a ton of injuries on offense and we do not need to have another receiver go down for an extended period of time.

Thank god, he is going to be such a good slot this year

  • Stefanie Smith

This is what they are now saying on NFL.com. The article states that this is what the Chargers have reported.

“The Chargers announced Saturday that wide receiver Eddie Royal suffered a bruised lung and a concussion during the team’s practice.”

    • http://www.standupforkids.org blackroseMD1

Glad to hear that. I mean, it sucks, but he can probably be ready for at least week 2, and maybe the opener.

      • boltingindiego

he will most likely be back by the opener if it takes about a week to heal the bruised lung since he has 2 weeks and 2 days till the game.

        • http://www.BoltBeat.com/ Peter Thompson

Organs heal faster than bones and muscle.

        • arnie

if there is one WR i’m rooting for, to “earn his money” it’s royal. Under McCoy he will get the rest he needs. Willie is starting to step up and VB looked sharp.

    • boltingindiego

All tests were negative on the concussion. He only suffered a bruised lung.

  • Bill Nichols

Williams out for the season, has the same injury the olinemen had when AJ drafted him, some torn pectoral muscle

    • Stefanie Smith

I think Telesco drafted Steve Williams… this year. He is a first year rookie with the torn pectoral muscle.

      • http://boltbeat.com/ Ernie Padaon

Don’t think he meant that AJ drafted this one… Just a coincidence with the two

        • Bill Nichols

Sorry, I meant same injury the O-line man Troutman had. Didn’t AJ draft him, and didn’t he have like a torn pec, or chest muscle? Sorry, I wasn’t making sense. lol

          • I_Bleed_Powder_Blue_801

GOOD WEEK OR GOOD ALCOHOL….? j/k

          • arnie

u r correct, troutman tore is muscle in college, and his draft stock dropped. aj drafted him any way believing he was worth the wait. yeah drafting as a rookie FA would have been smarter.

      • Gunnar Martin

Yeah like Ernie said he was talking about Johnnie Troutman. AJ drafted him in the fifth round last year.

      • Bill Nichols

Sorry, I am “challenged” literally, (not literally, but, “literally”) when trying to convey what it is I am trying to “say”, writing. :) Still a bolts fan though….

        • Stefanie Smith

And glad you are one of the Bolts fan group!

  • Lee

with steve williams hurt, i think it’s time to bring in some veteran corner. idk who is available tho

  • Trey P

This Might Be A Long Season if Vincent Brown or Keenan Allen dont step up..Or were gonna need the number 1 ranked d..Cause this aint looking Good for us..Hopefully we find a gem.. scan somebodyelses roster or something..

  • http://www.BoltBeat.com/ Peter Thompson

On a side note, Denver is getting man handled by Seattle. Nothing but turnovers, and even a 107 yard kick return for a TD. Another fumble was returned for a TD. 33 to 7 before the half is pretty awful for a super bowl favorite.. Wolf was taken out in an ambulance too.. I think he’s their starting DT.

    • http://www.signonsandiego.com/ Ambitoos

Yea, Seattle dropped a 40 burger on them. 40-10. Ugh.

      • Nick in PB

Seattle is a machine this year. They have their first, second and third teams all playing well. So much depth. I don’t know what their injury situation is… Percy Harvin? I think that’s the only major injury they have. I could be wrong but man, they are solid.

        • Stefanie Smith

The are solidly on steroids and admit it. Richard Sherman says everyone does it and nothing can be done about it.

        • http://www.signonsandiego.com/ Ambitoos

You have to give Pete Carrol the credit because he did the same thing at USC. USC just isn’t the same without him.

    • Stefanie Smith

These ESPN goofballs tried to spin it that Denver played just as well as Seattle, and that when Seattle played us, we were the ones that got steamrolled – not Denver.

      • http://www.BoltBeat.com/ Peter Thompson

Not even close. It was a blow out before halftime even hit. They were awful, and their first teamers were in WAY longer than ours.

      • http://www.signonsandiego.com/ Ambitoos

Were not going to see any real team strengths in the second preseason game. I do feel that Denver will not repeat the same performance as last year with McCoy gone.

  • Stefanie Smith

Not that people care here, but Vasquez, Champ Bailey and Wes Welker all went out with injuries. I think Champ’s is the worse besides the guy that went to the hospital. Injuries all over the NFL.
*Dustin Keller – Miami – likely out –got ripped up something terrible against the Texans.

Yep, how on earth are we going to get past the Texans, without the bulk of the team ending up on IR or out for the season?

Make these players get off the steroids.

    • Nick in PB

Oh yes… we definitely care when it’s in our division. I don’t want the Chargers to be the only team in the division suffering the injury bug. With our injury situation, we need all the help we can get!

  • Nick in PB

Man, what was once a promising receiver crew has been hit hard. It looks so grim right now but the good news is that Malcom will be back and Royal will be back as well. But can they stay healthy the rest of the season? Hopefully, the injuries happen now and not later and these guys can have productive seasons. We will miss DX but Malcom, Eddie and Vincent make a pretty good set of receivers but they need to stay healthy. If one more goes down, I’m gonna lose it!

  • nolan

Sorry to cumbersome the subject but I think we should sign Jacob lacey for depth at corner he was just released by the vikings but was on the Colts roster in 2011 and a starter which means he has connections with Tolesco.
