San Diego Chargers DE Corey Liuget Shoulder Injury Watch

San Diego Chargers DE Corey Liuget left Thursday’s preseason game early with a shoulder injury. He played in one series in the game. He took down Jay Cutler with a sack, but hurt his shoulder on the play.

It will be an injury that fans will be keeping their eyes on. Liuget is one of the best players on the Chargers defense. You could see the dropoff in the defense as soon as he left the field.

The depth on the San Diego Chargers defensive unit is paper thin. When Corey Liuget was sidelined, the next man up was Damik Scafe or Jarius Wynn. Who?!

Liuget was scheduled to sit out after his first drive in the game, but he probably would have been sent out for one more drive after the Chargers forced the Bears to punt the ball quickly.

This will be an injury that we all want to keep our eyes on. We have been bitten by the injury bug hard already and we cannot afford to lose any more of the good guys.

Liuget was making Bushrod his bitch, the defense played worse when he went out but I was impressed by Scaife. Hope he’s not out long

This would be a big problem. As you stated, there is not much depth on the defensive line. I’m sick of injuries

Corey Liuget to me is the best Defensive player we have.
That’s how highly I think of him. I hope it’s not serious…Get better soon Legit!!!

Ugh, what is going on with these guys!

Crossing my fingers, toes, eyes & holding my breath! If he goes down, so does the season! Period! #GoBolts!

  • Aaron Johnson

I think it was Wynn that got pancaked by a rookie. Definitely not who I want as a starter. Lets hope Liuget was kept out of the game as a precaution and nothing more.

Good news bad news, Liuget may be out, but it’s only preseason. Because of the injury, this is an opportunity for the “depth” to get more snaps.

  • Bill Nichols

He’ll be fine. Corey isn’t an injury whore, it would take a hell of a lot more to keep him on the sideline. We know he has mad skills, let him chill till the last preseason game, he will be fine.

The only reason there was a huge drop off in the run was because the defense played a 3rd string ILB, Butler was ridden out of the plays with no help. Besides You’re not giving Scafe much of any credit, did you see how beastly he was against Seahawks guard- he practically manhandled him, go and re-watch the game, he’s quick fast and powerful for a 300lb, pretty much why he’s a DE instead of the NT and high motor, the depth at the DE is not worrisome as much as the ILB, who’s job is to stuff the run, the DE end are not LINEBACKERS!!
