I keep rooting for Mike Willie. I think he could be a good receiver if he gets the opportunity, but he hasn’t had the greatest preseason. He dropped a pass right in the middle of his numbers last week and he had this opportunity where he was destroyed by Jon Bostic. I think Willie was broken in half on that play.

They are trying to eliminate that kind of play by Bostic. You guys can say it was great. but no, in preseason, no one should be hitting so hard that you stun somebody. Mike probably has a concussion. Not right.

    • boltingindiego

it was a clean hit didn’t lead with a head or hit his head. If anything blame whoever called the play.

      • Stefanie Smith

You say it was a clean hit, but if he gets fined by the NFL front office, what would it then become?

        • joerockt

          A bullshit fine.

    • gibbypoo

This is football, preseason or not. Some guys are fighting for starting roles, if not jobs.

Grow a fucking pair, you clam.

    • joerockt

That’s a pretty lame statement Stefanie. Nothing in the rule book says preseason games should not be played at full speed. That was a perfect tackle in every way. Respect for Bostic.

      • Stefanie Smith

They are talking about giving this Bostic a fine. How is that a clean hit if he gets fined?

        • joerockt

Probably the only thing he did bad about that tackle is he did put his head down. But he clearly hit him with the right shoulder with his head going across Willie’s numbers. His helmet did nothing during that tackle. That’s a perfect tackle to me.

If he gets fined that would be a complete travesty.

Ok this is why women should not be involved in football. You are pussifying the sport. It’s supposed to hurt, your supposed to hit hard. If we all wanted to watch two hand touch or flag football I’d watch the kids play in the backyard.

  • nflwatcher

That was a really bad hit that Mike Willie took. I wouldn’t be surprised if he has a concussion after that.

  • Gunnar Martin

Gosh that had to hurt. At least he made up for it with two TDs later.

  • Alter Ego

    That makes my teeth hurt.

  • ECAVILLE/Ace of Spades

Was a great play by Bostic! Willie didn’t stay down though. Two TDs still catching the ball with no fear. That is football!

  • joerockt

That was an amazing, picture perfect tackle. That’s how you do it, children, you don’t just hit him, you run through him.

  • Stefanie Smith

Lame or not, Bostic did lead with his head. Go take a look at the film. You can still play well and get a spot on the team without giving someone a concussion.

    • joerockt

I found some other angles and from the front it looks all shoulder, with his head, while down, going across Willie’s numbers. His head didnt make the impact.

Look at the youtube vid in this link and see if you can pause it.

      • Ernie Padaon

i am more surprised he didn’t get a penalty for standing over him a little after the hit. wasnt that a new taunting rule that they were trying to get… it may have been too quick

        • joerockt

Yea that could have been called, but I think the ref was focusing more on the fumble.
