Chargers Climbing Up Power Rankings

The latest power rankings from NFL.com has been released and the San Diego Chargers are starting to climb, even after getting blown out by the Seattle Seahawks in the first preseason game.

The Chargers moved up 2 spots and are now at rank 19:

Took in a fair amount of the San Diego Chargers’ preseason opener against the Seattle Seahawks, and I can’t help but think that the Bolts could be a sleeper team in 2013 — a true sleeper. (If everyone keeps chatting up the Kansas City Chiefs, then you can’t really say they’re under the radar, right?) San Diego’s offense made some plays against Seattle’s stout D. Meanwhile, the defense stifled Russell Wilson and the Seahawks’ first-team offense — two drives, two punts. Thinking former Dallas Cowboys tight end John Phillips can bring this club some value in 2013.

Is that a little respect from the boys over at The Network? How can that be?

It should be interesting what they think after we keep on rolling this week against the Chicago Bears. I love that they hype is starting already. We haven’t played a real game yet, but some people are starting to notice that there is some talent on the left coast.

I love it.. closer and closer to middle of the pack, and then it’s up to us to show that we belong in the top ten! If we can beat a powerhouse like the Texans and then win in Philly.. will people start to think about that “First Philadelphia Homegame” Super Bowl thing, and move us even higher on the rankings? That would rawk!

In other news, Brady is injured

!!!!! What kind of injury.. please post link!

      • Stefanie Smith

They don’t know the extent of the injury, but NFL.com reported knee injury.

        • http://www.BoltBeat.com/ Peter Thompson

Yeah.. I just went and read it earlier. Doesn’t SOUND bad.. but, it didn’t sound like DX was bad either.

I think it’s funny that they have the Chiefs ranked as the 5th worst team in the league right now, even after their first preseason game (which Chiefs fans were gushing over). This is the first time I actually looked at the NFL.com power rankings, so far.
    A) I figured the network would have the Chiefs above us by the way they keep reporting that we are the 3rd best team in the division.
    B) By the way Chiefs fans were acting, I thought that they were neck and neck in the rankings with the Chargers.. not 9 spots behind.. hahaha. I LMAO when I saw how far back they were! When they were saying “The Chargers shouldn’t be ranked above us”, I was thinking they were maybe 20th… not 28th!

Off the subject, but we have been on a injury trend lately. NFL.com is reporting that Brady left the field with an injured knee. No news as to how bad it is.

  • Gunnar Martin

There’s a piece at the top with a little tidbit on Ryan Mathews. It was just how he thought 24 had already hurt himself, so nothing much, but still a little more recognition for our Bolts! It’s too bad it wasn’t any positive info though…

I saw that too! Guess you can’t fault him for crackin’ wise about Mathews injuries.. even we do that… Still, it was new to see them mentioning us in the first two lines.

Raiders starting LT Veldheer is out for the year with torn triceps, thats great for our pass rush. Melinek Watson I think is the backup rookie. I’m glad it’s not just us getting hit with the injury bug

  • Bill Nichols

Screw the talking heads! Keep us low bro, then we will strike like lightening for real. No more injuries, maybe get Melvin back late in season, big run for the prize money in January. Damn, can’t wait, so tired of being out of it after 16 games. Lets, freaking, do this!! Love the mix of talent, PLUS brains (new regime), finally.

  • philiprules

As long as none of the starters get injured, this team will be ok. But if more than one or two go down, Lord help us.

    Back pedaling. at it’s finest.

    • http://www.BoltBeat.com/ Peter Thompson

      Or pretending their best.

      • arnie

Pretending they’re smart? yeah that seems right. LOL
All i know Pete, the media has everybody drinking the Kool-Aid that Rivers is done. Gates best days are behind him. Fluker is Guard. And we’re finished, without a FA #1WR.

  • OregonCopper

NOBODY ever won a Super Bowl in August…as we continually learn each year there’s no way anyone can predict who’s going to do what…

I like what I’m seeing so far, but it’s way too early to have any kind of emotion about any team this year except anticipation…

    Go Bolts!!
