Chargers Release QB Hermann; Sign Tony Burnett

The San Diego Chargers released Mike Hermann today. Hermann was an undrafted free agent quarterback that the team was giving a shot, but it already looks like things doesn’t work out with him.

The Chargers added more help in the secondary to fill his spot on the roster by signing former USC safety Tony Burnett. Burnett will get a shot to compete in the thin secondary and will have a decent shot to make the roster. The depth at the position is thin and he is getting to camp reasonably early. He also should be a decent special teams player and that will help him out.

Get those bodies in that backfield to compete!

Too bad for Hermann. I know a lot of fans wanted him to make it. I guess we all sort of saw it coming, though.

Doctor McCoy knows best. I liked Hermann and thought he had great potential. Wanted him on the practice squad.

Nice move bringing in more depth and competition. Love what McCoy and Telesco are doing to the roster.

Please try to refrain from signing any more USC players after this signing Mr. Telesco.

Hey if they help the team, I don’t care if they grew up in Oakland as a Raider fan. But they gotta REALLY help the team ;)

Didn’t he play at corner and linebacker too? Thought I heard that somewhere. Versatility seems to be a theme.

I think he DID play CB for a minute, but wasn’t that good, so they moved him to LB.

yea. he played both those also. he can play anywhere on the field.

  • Cgoodness13

I was wondering what the heck happend to Burnett, ima little ashamed of my self for not knowing what was up with this kid because I’m a USC fan and obvious Bolt fan lol

  • arnie

Oooooh, didn’t see that coming so soon. I guess they saw an opportunity to improve the defense, The good thing is they don’t seem worried about what they have on offense, or the front seven.
Although that’s what it looked like in camp. Sorensen seemed to have the edge. And it’s not like the #1 an #2 QB spots were up for grabs.

#7 is a number that just won’t go away.
