Chargers Sign CB William Middleton

The San Diego Chargers had an open roster spot after placing Jonas Mouton on the IR and we decided to add more secondary help with the opening. The Chargers signed former Jacksonville Jaguars cornerback William Middleton to the roster.

Middleton joined camp today and will compete for a job in the secondary. There is plenty of room to make a roster spot at the moment. Shareece Wright and Derek Cox are the starters and Johnny Patrick has been the main backup. After Patrick is the rookie Steve Williams and the roster is wide open after that. There is not much experience in the secondary and Middleton would have that advantage over the other guys competing for a spot. Middleton also is a good special teams player and has some experience at safety.

There is something about his name that makes me think of royalty.

Nice! The depth was worrying me. I love that TT keeps signing players who are versatile.

  • Rob Base

Nice adding depth and competition to the roster. It’s getting interesting.

  • Cgoodness13

I was hoping we would sign that brown guy but this is decent

  • rickochey

    he has experience with Cocks

    • Gunnar Martin

      Really? C’mon man…

  • Cgoodness13

I tried to find him on YouTube, all I got was Kate Milton and her baby

    • Gunnar Martin

Haha me too. Even with the words “jaguars” and “football” and “highlights” and just about any other words describing who he is included in the search. lol

  • arnie

Now that is nteresting. If i had to speculate, T&M doesn’t seem concerned with the front 7. Which is a good sign in of itself.

    • Rob Base

You do have a solid point. We will see if they make any more tweaks to the roster.

      • arnie

At this point, I can only see those tweaks, if anymore injuries occur Rob. So far I’m impressed with how healthy the Chargers camp has been.

    • Gunnar Martin

Same thing seems to be going for the running backs as well…

      • arnie

If you could see them, there really isn’t any reason too. The O-line isn’t the best in the league, yet, but they are opening holes for the RB.

        • Gunnar Martin

That’s great news. Now let’s just hope that we won’t need a backup bell-cow if Ryan gets hurt…

          • arnie

Baker an Fozzy will fill that void just fine.

          • Gunnar Martin

Sweet. They did look pretty good from the highlights I saw from camp. Anything on Michael Hill?

          • arnie

Still looks pedestrian at this point. theres just so much experience ahead of him. he’s got an up “hill” battle.

On another note.. Denver’s center Koppen out for the season.. Torn ACL.

    • Gunnar Martin

Too bad. But sort of good news. They’re centers are having TONS of trouble staying healthy so far this year. CAM CRUSH!!!

Anyways, it’s really weird how many out-for-season injuries have already taken place thus far. It’s only been a few days and good players across the league are dropping like flies. Strange.

      • http://www.BoltBeat.com/ Peter Thompson

I know! ACL tears are rampant right now.

  • delamerica93

We sure have a bunch of randoms at cornerback. I hope the come together

    • http://boltbeat.com/ Ernie Padaon

      seriously! the position worries me

  • Bill Nichols

Didn’t he play with Derek? I wonder if the 2 were on the field much at the same time? Could be an added bonus, as long as Weddle can put up with him / them. You go TT, can’t remember us making this many non-UN-necessary moves in one year before for quite some time. Bolt Up!!
