Chargers Training Camp – Inspiring or not?

I am perusing the articles from yesterdays San Diego Chargers training camp and other training camps around the league.  Looking for inspiration or simply something that screams “write about me”.  So far, the biggest news coming out of camp is that Ryan Mathews is 10 pounds lighter.  Seriously, that’s it.  Everything else is just mud to me.  I feel like if I manage to wade through it I will find that little nugget of info that 1.  ten other people have not already written about or 2.  is so interesting that even though it’s been written, I want to put my own slant on it.  So far, nada.

I suppose as the days go on and when I have time to take a break and head up to practice that my thoughts on this may change.  But in all honesty, I am not a big fan of training camp.  It’s the last speed bump before we get to watch live ball at the Q.   That day is only 13 days away.  Sure it’s pre-season football and it’s really only interesting for about 15 football minutes, but it’s football.  I wonder if I feel this way because I am so tired of waiting for football season!?

How do you feel about training camp?  Are you going to head out and watch the guys?

i know you’re question was about TC, but i love preseason… guys playing their freaking hearts out to make a roster spot- it’s the most college the pros get. : )

I’m with you. I love the intensity and emotion of pre-season.

Not to mention the fact I do not care of we lose…..

For a long time Bolts fan who lives on the other side of the country, it’s nice to hear we are still on target – like a mile marker on the road to the game. Local news, ESPN, and NFL.com are useless for news about my beloved Bolts. Other than that, I agree, not much useful info. Most of these guys will be on the practice squad. Even the stars of preseason ball will quickly fade come Sept. BUT – everything is a lot more exciting since we have real coaches and a GM.

            Heck ya!

I too love the preseason. I love watching certain players and seeing who makes their marks in a game. Then when they start trimming the roster… that’s where things get interesting.

Arnie’s notes from yesterdays training camp got me excited. I really like from what I’ve seen and heard about Jahleel Addae. It was good to hear that the O- line is starting to mesh. He also noted that Danny Woodhead, Fozzy Whit, and Michael Hill could ball. I wouldn’t mind seeing what our youth could bring from the backfield. Hopefully Fozzy and Michael Hill can make an impact. Yes, training camp isn’t regular season or pre season but it is football.

Arnie’s notes made me feel happy for Rivers. He sounds like he has something left and Coach McCoy supports him

Hey cindi…how’s fluker doing? Any word? I’m all scared ever since Kevin Acee’s BS story about him

    • http://boltbeat.com/ ChargerGirl Cindi

Fluker is bigger and stronger than ever and practicing in the #1 squad. I anticipate big things from this guy!

Thanks Cindi! I’m SO excited to see RM run behind him!

Here are his first day impressions. I can’t really understand him, but I think he likes it. :-)

He’s SD’s John Coffey (The Green Mile)…1 big hellah strong SOB

LOL on the very next video, they asked Freeney about “the play” between him an Fluker….” he cleaned me up” Freeney said.

Remember how Ingram got injured? he put a move on Fluker and had a clean path to rivers? Freeney tried the same “move”, the Rookie didn’t forget OTA’s either. See this is why i don’t believe the “hype” from the media about his pass blocking issues. he’s going to learn, and that day it showed.

I know how you feel. I can’t find much to write about either. And Arnie’s report blew anything I can come with away.. hahaha! We need a new signing, or something.

Yo peeps. I hear L.T. is going to be at Charger camp tomorrow, Saturday 7- 27. Just saw him talking to Foster from the Texans. Our first nemesis of the year. Bolt Up bolts!!

  • Leonardo Velazquez

One thing I noticed from training camp is that Floyd was dropping every pass thrown at him, he would catch it and lose it a second later (so I guess it’s fumbling). Also, Royal is looking like a beast, but I think they said he was looking that good last year as well so who knows. And the DBs are looking really good, but I don’t think they’re good, so PR and the WRs might be making them look good which is bad news haha.
