Melvin Ingram To Be Placed on PUP List

Melvin Ingram has been placed on the PUP (Physically Unable to Perform) List by the San Diego Chargers for the preseason. He will be able to participate in all the meetings and take advantage of all the training staff and medical staff, but he will not be able to step onto the field.

He wouldn’t be able to do anything on the practice field anyway. He is still recovering from a tore ACL that he suffered in mini camp. The Chargers will have to decide if they want to place him on the PUP list for the regular season or move him over to the injured reserved with the designation to return.

There is a possibility that Ingram can return this season. There is a lot of work that still needs to be done though and the Chargers will have to be patient with his recovery.

I wish Ingram was able to play this season. He was one of the players I was looking forward to seeing on the field. He is one of the reasons why Shaun Phillips is not back in a Chargers jersey. He had a ton of potential and I thought that he could have been special this year.

I think it comes down to how well Freeney performs, that they may look at placing him on IR. Either way, i think they should take their time with Ingram. Unless he’s a 100% and they’re in the playoffs.

Agreed. Let him get healthy. Norv & AJ already dragged out the V-Brown situation last year. It’s a serious injury. See ya in 2014, SuperMel!!!

Don’t want to risk this dude… But if he gets to 100% in some Adrian Peterson type fashion, then let him play!

I think less is more with Ingram this season. The prudent and shrewd decision is not to wait to make one. The best interest for the club and for him would be to hand him a clipboard. Let him come back next year when we are defending our title.

Living in SC, I was really excited to see Ingram (the GA Dawg killer) in his sophomore year. So impressed how our new coaching staff and GM quickly handled filling the void left by Mel. Get well quick man!! As Alter Ego said, plan to be there to defend our title!

Agreed. When we had a hole to fill, the new regime did not hesitate to fill it. They went out and found the best fit possible and didn’t look in the dumpster to try and find gold.
