Packers Could Be Shopping RB Alex Green.

The Green Bay Packers could be looking to trade RB Alex Green during training camp. The Packers could be looking to hand over the running back duties to rookie Eddie Lacy and that could leave Green expendable. The Chargers might be interested in the back out of Hawaii. Green was a 3rd round draft pick for the Packers that was slowed with an ACL injury for his first season and then he struggled in his return to the field. Not everyone can return to glory like Adrian Peterson. Some people are obviously human.

Green has potential and in the Chargers backfield, there is room for a backup runningback. Danny Woodhead and Ronnie Brown are better used as 3rd down backs. If Tom Telesco doesn’t want to go the route of Brandon Jacobs, Willis McGahee or Michael Turner, he can go with a younger back in Alex Green.

I still believe that the Chargers should bring in another runningback. Ryan Mathews can be a stud, but he still hasn’t proven that he can do it yet. He has been given numerous opportunities and has not come through. If he fails again this year, we really don’t have someone to pick up the slack. Green could be available with a late round draft pick and could be someone who could contribute immediately.

I think that the waiver wire has more upside talent than what Green could provide. No way do we trade away anything for Green – if he was available for free…I’d still go with other guys.

true, but this could be a case where telesco wants to go with some youth and potential for the future over a veteran rental

I like our guys Baker(22 yrs) and Hill(21 yrs) better. I think only one makes the roster unless Brown is cut.

        • arnie

This may not be popular, but brown is most likely the odd man out.

        • Adam

No love for Jordan Todman?? Lol jk

    • Adam

I agree…in so happy with the roster right now. Obviously there can be some tweaks here and there, but I think we should ride this out.

  • Joel

Well his video sure looks good… But of course that’s college ball… Without knowing Anything else about him, he does look intriguing, does he have any stats from playing with the packers? Or did he even see the field in the nfl? I like the big back idea though, so seeing what I see he seems like the type of upside low risk pickup.

  • Rob Base

We have younger backs with more potential I think. Lets give Baker, Fozzy Bear and Hill a shot first. The last thing we need is another injury prone back or a human back at that. I wish we had a inhuman back like Peterson that would be awesome!

  • arnie

Green looks intriguing however, the grass always looks greener on the other side. If the clique is true, RB are a dime a dozen, so why jump the gun and pay for a back you can get for free, that doesn’t have ACL damage.
Patience people, let’s see what we have, on the roster, before we go shopping for other teams cast-offs.

Baker Hill are fresh and itching to prove themselves. These youngsters will impress, just give them the chance.

  • http://boltbeat.com/ Ernie Padaon

It seems that you guys have more faith in Baker and Hill than I do.

    • arnie

it’s not faith Ernie. it’s uncertainty that’s keeping you at bay. For me, it’s trusting the people the Chargers hired, to replace norv an aj, that have my confidence. And that’s enough for me to know, if they see enough good things in them. Or, they will move on if they don’t. haven’t they proved to move on from players, for the future best interests of team, even if it was unpopular?

      • http://boltbeat.com/ Ernie Padaon

I do trust them. Trust them to bring in another back… Haha

        • arnie

LOL…like i said, uncertainty is the real enemy….lol

  • BruisingChargers

Ernie, I can tell you are bored as am I. I think we need to see how training camp goes and, do not forget about Baker, Whittaker, and Hill………

  • OP Bolt

I agree with the comments to evaluate who we already have at RB. I think that if we need to spend money and roster space on other players, it is on defense.

  • joerockt

Ronnie Brown is better used for standing on the sideline, yelling “Good play” and MAYBE holding a clipboard. Or they could just cut him and trade for Green. I like the latter.

    • http://boltbeat.com/ Ernie Padaon

      Hahaha… Brian Scalabrine type

  • 1961 Fan

“Matthews can be a stud” You mean he is a dud! Please get another RB to carry the load besides little Danny Woodhead; even Sproles needed a breather from time to time.

    • joerockt

I can tell you would be a blast at parties.

  • Mike Brand

still hope we can find a place for green at gb . i still think he could make a fb
