Broncos Locked Down Their Left Tackle For The Next 5 Years….

The Denver Broncos have locked in a left tackle for the next 5 seasons and I am jealous. I don’t want to be, but the mess that we had over at the left tackle position last season really makes me envious.

The Broncos agreed to a multi-year deal with Ryan Clady and we have Max Starks to hunker down the blind side for Philip Rivers for one season. During the offseason, we will be hoping one of the top left tackles falls all the way to the last pick in the draft. That kind of stuff just does not happen.

We really don’t have a left tackle on the roster that is going to step in and take the spot, so we will need to use one of out top picks on the position. We were supposed to do this during this offseason, but we got a little sidetracked. The teams in front of us all got left tackle happy and we decided to fix the right side of the line. Maybe we will get that left tackle done and locked in

What I wana know about is Kerry Rhodes?
Ken Wisenhunt and the lack of a legitimate starter are the reasons this signing could make sence. Coming from an opinion like mine, having Kerry Rhodes brings in a proven player to fill the safety spot (ranked number 4 saftey in the league by PFF), and moving Gilchrist to the slot provides a stable depth in the secondary.

I wrote this before figuring out that Kerry Rhodes is free safety just like Weedle, but I would want to see everyone’s thoughts on that as a possibility. Ken Wisenhunt knows him and I wonder if he thinks he could make the switch to slide over. It makes sense to upgrade the secondary right now. This is one of the combinations that are possible (Upgrade:Safety or Upgrade:Cornerback) With Kerry Rhodes as starter, brandon taylor as back up, and gilrchist in slot I see a much better team.

Well, maybe the fact that all the LTs were locked down, and we were forced to nab fluker will prove to be a blessing in disguise. We have a pretty great stop gap for this year, and hopefully when we have that 32nd pick next year, we can trade way up and grab an amazing LT…giving us the best OL in the NFL…or at least moving in that direction

Smart move. Freeney rushes that side.
