One of the most exciting additions this offseason for the San Diego Chargers is RB Danny Woodhead. Woodhead is going to be a valuable player for Philip Rivers an d the offense. According to Michael Gehlken, Woodhead has been one of the most impressive players so far this offseason.
Woodhead is going to be a regular during passing downs. Remember all those dump offs that Philip had to toss in the direction of Ronnie Brown last season? Those can go in the direction of Woodhead now. Woodhead has a little more ability to make good things happen with the football in his hands. Brown did an admirable job, but there were some yards that were left on the field.
I think getting the ball to Woodhead in space will be a good outlet for Philip Rivers. When things start to break down, he can just go to his reliable outlet and gain chunks of yards. Rivers misses having that outlet in his back pocket. He used to be able to dump the ball off to Darren Sproles and Ladainian Tomlinson on the regular and they would make plays, but with his latest group of backs, he hasn’t had that luxury. Woodhead should be able to step into that role and be a huge help on offense.
Looking forward to seeing Woodhead out on the field making plays.
