13684 rushing yards and 145 rushing touchdowns in his career. He was a threat to score every time he touched the football. He could gain huge chunks of yards through the tiniest of creases on the offensive line.
LT joined the Chargers when they were one of the worst teams in the league. He helped build the team into a powerhouse, but he never was able to get the team to the Super Bowl. It was too bad.
Ryan Mathews joined the team after LT’s departure and has been trying to fill those shoes. He has struggled to produce like LT, but that is a Hall of Famer that he is trying to imitate. Mathews will need to step up this season to take the pressure off of Philip Rivers on offense. He will be a key component on offense.
I still miss the days of LT. He was instant offense. Anytime we were in the red zone, we knew we would come away with 7 points. He was one of the greatest and I am so happy that I was able to watch him play for his whole career as a San Diego Charger.
Happy Birthday LT!
