Top 25 Pass Rushers: Couple of Chargers just miss the list

Greg Rosenthal listed out his top 25 pas rushers in the league and a pair of Chargers just missed the list. That is not bad for a team that struggled getting to the quarterback. One of the player that just missed the list is a Charger for the first time. He was signed this offseason from the Indianapolis Colts and has been a top pass rusher for years. Now he is our pass rusher.

Dwight Freeney is going to be a key member to the defense. They need him to step in and be a force off of the edge. They need him to do what the Chargers were hoping Melvin Ingram could do.

Speaking of Melvin, he was the other Chargers player to just miss out on the top 25 list. He showed potential getting after the quarterback last season, but he will miss out the season after injuring his knee in OTAs.

If Ingram is able to make an Adrian Peterson like return, then he would be able to play along side of Freeney. Otherwise, they could have a chance to play together next season.

John Pagano and the Chargers defense need to create pressure. Hopefully both Freeney and Ingram are available next season to provide a nice pass rushing combo.

This ranking is kind of crazy. The NFL Network Top 100, ranked by the NFL
Players themselves, rank Dwight Freeney No. 80 in the Top 100. Therefore, in my
opinion and more importantly, those of the NFL Players, this ranking doesn’t
have the credibility that the Top 100 does!

This is Telesco time now. No polls count until after his first year – that’s my new rule.

      Hahaha

Ha Ha, I do think L English might make a decent MLB in the 3-4 defense.

I hate this time of year NFL recess/vacation. No new’s for a month crap. Hernandez did it! Manti, Fluker, Allen, Geathers, will all be studs in training camp. Just my opinion yo……………

I keep hearing about the switch to a 4-3. The base defense will still be a 3-4. On passing downs, Freeney will line up in a 4-3 on passing downs. Just like Phillips did last season. Pretty simple really. We have been using that type of D for a while. Phillips played stand up most of the time but he played with his hand in the dirt on passing downs. I don’t think they will use Freeney as much that way. Likely, they will use English as their outside 3-4 LB. They will find a way to mix Freeney in but I really think you’ll see him lined up as a defensive end in passing situations. Basically, a 4-3 with nickle and dime coverage.
