How WR Dan DePalma Can Make The San Diego Chargers Roster

Dan DePalma was brought on by the San Diego Chargers through free agency this offseason. DePalma hasn’t had the opportunity to perform on the big stage yet, but he has been a practice squad star. As a New York Giant, his teammates said that he was one of the toughest receivers to cover.

How can DePalma crack the San Diego Chargers roster? The best way to do it is kicking Eddie Royal out as the return specialist on the roster.

The top 5 receiver spots are locked in. Malcom Floyd, Danario Alexander, Keenan Allen, Vincent Brown and Robert Meachem have those spots locked down. I know a ton of people don’t like Meachem, but his salary is the reason why he will make the roster.

It them comes down to Eddie Royal and Dan DePalma. Most teams are not going to hold 6 receivers on the roster, but will make an exception for a specialist. Kassim Osgood was often the 6th receiver on the roster. Dan DePalma will need to excel in that role.

Once preseason starts up, through training camp, DePalma will need to be lightning in a bottle. I am sure he is sick and tired of being a top practice squad guy. It’s time for him to make the big squad and make things happen.

I think DePalma would fit the Chargers offense well. He doesn’t have the size of the other receivers on the roster, but he is quick and could do well in the quick passing game. That battle for the specialists role could come down to those two and I think DePalma will have a decent shot at winning it.
