San Diego Chargers Are The Biggest Threat To Denver Broncos

The San Diego Chargers have a fan in Elliot Harrison from NFL.com. Maybe some people are starting to come to their senses on the Chargers being a threat again.

Here is what Elliot thinks that Chargers must do in order to compete for the AFC West and the playoffs:

How it can happen:

  • Chargers head coach Mike McCoy needs to improve the passing game by creating higher-percentage shots on intermediate routes. Rivers averaged less than 7 yards per throw last year.
  • Receiver Vincent Brown and running back Ryan Mathews MUST stay healthy.
  • Manti Te’o has to show that his football IQ is as high as talent evaluators like Mike Mayock say it is. Not only must he anticipate what opposing offenses will do, he also must help get teammates in position to make the plays he doesn’t.

The toughest thing on that list is Ryan Mathews MUST stay healthy. He hasn’t been able to do that EVER. He needs to get his act straight.

Elliot should probably add everyone needs to protect that football. Ryan Mathews needs to hold onto the football. Philip Rivers needs to make smarter decisions with the football. Everyone has to work as a team to make good things happen on offense.

We are a threat to the Broncos.

#BoltUp The biggest threat the Broncos have is old age…

    • Rob Base

      Nice! Good one bro

    • Stefanie Smith

Is that the Patriots’ problem–old age? Why do you say age is the Broncos’ biggest problem? Could they win more games if everyone was a rookie? Probably not.

      • tubbs45

Pat’s problem has been an awful secondary!

        • Stefanie Smith

          Yeah. You are right.

          so is the broncos

Stefanie, all we need is for Peyton to have one little neck cramp and the donkeys are no longer a contender.

  • RussinSactown

Well we’ve seen the Chefs and Raiders wander in here in the last few weeks. Bring on the donkey show!

      lets do it

  • PakMaN

Fuck the Donkeys! This is #chargercountry bitchessssssss

Still think we need a big ass bruising back: Jacobs or McGahee to knock the shit out D-line and Matthews split time in a 2-3 back rotation.

    • http://boltbeat.com/ Ernie Padaon

I still agree with that assessment

      Haha good pix

  • BruisingChargers

You left out Dan DePalma and his skills and also the running back Hill also making the final roster. Just saying……………..

  • Cgoodness13

Eliot is probably the least idiotic writer for nfl :/

  • ECAVILLE/Ace of Spades

I am not hyped on Ronnie Brown.Ryan Mathews should be fine with this new training staff on the job.McGahee would be nice to have on the squad. Hill would be good to surprise opponents with Darren Sproles type play. Ultimately Chargers coaches will select the correct roster and utilize their talents accordingly. Donkeys better watchout, better not cry.Phillip Rivers will never let you live it down!

  • Bill Nichols

Actually I think he has it backwards, doesn’t he bolt heads?? The Broncos, will be the only competition of the Chargers in the AFCWest, oh foolish ones.. I know, I know, I am wayyyy too hyped about this season, but hey, look at all of the awesome changes that have been made… Sticking to my guns, Bolt Up people.

    • http://boltbeat.com/ Ernie Padaon

      I love it

I have a couple of friends that are donkey fans…in fact, that game when we were up 24 points and lost, my buddy came in from out of town to watch it with me. It was a LONG 2 quarters. I can’t wait for the chargers to shut my buddies mouth for me

    • http://boltbeat.com/ Ernie Padaon

I am right there with you

    • http://boltbeat.com/ ChargerGirl Cindi

OMG, my one of my besties is from Colorado and her husband is a huge Donkey fan. It’s not fun when we lose to them.

      • Adam

Yea…that’s not a party. He was all on the tebow bandwagon too…and the whole time I was making fun of him. Then once they cut him and signed Peyton, he started talking a bunch of shit about tebow and hopped on Mannings bandwagon. Freakin bronc fans!

  • C.Steele

I am actually more concerned with Matthew’s ball security than him staying healthy. Saying “he needs to get his act right” implies he has some choice about getting hurt, Broken Collar Bones. Clearly he doesn’t. I also think that not only will the much improved offensive line benefit Philip Rivers, it will also benefit Matthews in staying healthy, and improving his YPG. #GoBolts!

If Peyton Manning stays healthy there will be no threat from the other three NFC West teams to the Broncos. When the Playoffs begin then we will see if the Broncos can stay the course and get to the Super Bowl like everyone thinks. For the Raiders, Chiefs and Chargers this, and the coming years are rebuilding years. Many Bolts fans (as in other years) think the Chargers are greatly improved; they are not considering the glaring holes in the areas of O Line, RB, and QB. Any ending to the season at 8-8 or better is an improvement.
