Eric Weddle Looking Good in OTAs

Love the notes from training camp on Eric Weddle. Sounds like he is picking up right where he left off. He is performing at Pro Bowl form as usual. Weddle keeps getting better and better.

Here are the notes from yesterday:

Reading Philip Rivers from center field, Eric Weddle dominated as a pass defender. He broke up two passes, one with a diving swat, and snagged an overthrow for an interception. Afterward, Rivers said there’s no better safety in the NFL. He also praised Weddle for orchestrating the secondary, which has new starters at strong safety and both cornerback spots.

Dominated! I love it. Sounds great for Eric Weddle, but doesn’t sound so great for Philip Rivers.

Love Weddle and love that he is back there patrolling the secondary. Quarterbacks try to avoid throwing the ball in his direction and it just gives the guys up front that much more time to chase after the quarterback.

If the guys up front can get a little more pressure on the quarterbacks, then Eric Weddle can make some big times thing happen this year. We could see some career numbers for him. Interceptions for days.

Why is this season so far away? I love our Pro Bowler… oh wait!

Is Weddle really dominating, or is Rivers just picking up where he left off…

    • Louie Reyes

Sounds like you’re on the wrong forum

We don’t like your kind around here boy

      This smells Donkey’esque.

there has been press about weddle’s inability to lay the wood and such, but he is such a smart and instinctive player that can prevent big plays- frankly i don’t give a crap… he is a natural leader and a great character guy. that is all.

    • joerockt

Word. And I’ll take a ball hawk like Weddle over a big hitter any day.

  • PakMaN

Weddle has been the only reason I have been able to maintain my sanity during the last two years. God knows Mathews isn’t helping!

    • Ernie Padaon

Oh man. Just wish we could get more playmakers like him. Think we have some potential though

  • C.Steele

Ernie it’s still sun and fun in shorts, so I wont get to hyped about him “Dominating” or Rivers throwing a pick, but you do make an excellent point. If we are able to generate any kind of pass rush this year, imagine how Eric’s numbers will improve. He’s been great with no or minimal pass rush, if we start hurrying quarterbacks…. What?! The league will stop denying we have the best safety! Solid article! #GoBolts!!

  • Gunnar Martin

It’s Eric Weddle people. This is just as we expected. Move along now, move along.

SOOOOOOOOOOOO friggin glad to have him on this team.

    • Ernie Padaon

      haha.. truth

  • arnie

I wouldn’t read to much into how PR is doing from this. Two reasons. 1. Weddle practices against him everyday, so I expect some passes to get knocked down. 2. Not every team has an Eric Weddle on it.

Weddle is a beast… Period. Best free safty in the leagaue now that Ed reed old. But rivers is learning a whole new system.
