Pro Football Focus has a little segment where they select secret superstars throughout the league. They recently profiled San Diego Chargers DE Kendall Reyes as a player to keep our eyes on.
Reyes will be getting a ton of playing time this year. He will be given the starting job on the defensive front and will be asked to be a force on the line. He performed as one of the best pass rushing 3-4 defensive ends, according to PFF, but struggled a bit against the run.
In a passing league and with the Chargers inability to get to the quarterback, we will need him to penetrate through often.
I worry a little since some of his numbers were inflated because of that Chargers game against the Jets. QB Greg McElroy was sitting back forever and waiting to get sacked in that game.
But that is only a little worry. I still believe that Reyes can be a pass rushing force on the defense and players like Corey Liuget and Dwight Freeney can only take the pressure off the young man.
