2014 NFL Draft Will Be Held On May 8-10

The NFL announced the draft schedule for the 2014 offseason. The draft will be held on May 8-10 at Radio City Music Hall in New York. It was pushed later on the calendar because of a “scheduling conflict” with the venue. More likely, the league wants to see if moving the draft back a couple of weeks can keep fans engaged with the NFL for a longer time span. Who doesn’t like the Top 100 lists and Top 10 this and that?

This 2013 NFL Draft was held on April 25-27, so it is just a few extra weeks to wait. I guess we all will take in a couple hundred more mock drafts and it will give players like Lane Johnson more time to climb up the charts. It will give me more time to fall in love with 3 or 4 players that we won’t draft.

The other dates on the off-season calendar have not changed. Free agency will start on March 11 and the NFL Combine will be on February 18-25.

I guess the Chargers will get a few extra weeks to scout out cornerbacks and left tackles for 2014. In Telesco we trust.
