Poll Position: Freeney Sack Total

December 11, 2011; Baltimore, MD, USA; Indianapolis Colts defensive end Dwight Freeney (93) sacks Baltimore Ravens quarterback Joe Flacco (5) in the second half at M

First of all, I just want to say that it was a great day on the site! Everyone was rockin’ and rollin’.. throwing it all out there… making each other laugh.. getting down & durty with the stats & facts… and generally being awesome! I LOVE IT when we have days like this, where we can celebrate, do a little dance, and give each other a virtual Hi-Five! I want to thank Ernie for being on top of the story before I even woke up. (I am not a morning person, especially on the weekends). What a great way to start the day! Furthermore, I want to praise Tom Telesco for GETTIN ER’ DUN!!! When Freeney left town, I think we all thought “There goes another one”, and put our face in our hands. What a Finale! Dwight Freeney is a Charger, folks… like it, or not.. big contract or not. Aging veteran, or not. He is going to hold down the left side, and get after Manning, Smith, and whoever ends up starting in Oakland this season… probably Flynn.

Personally, I think Dwight Freeney is going to look GREAT in Lightning Bolts! In fact, other than drafting Ingram.. I haven’t been as excited for a Chargers pass rusher since good ole’ QB eating, scary seizure dancing, steroid taking, Tia Tequila dating, “Lights Out” Shawne Merriman. Yeah, he was a controversial player… but, he was OUR controversial player. I loved the heck out him, and enjoyed every minute of the time he spent here.

I’m not going to get into all of the if’s, and’s, why’s, and but’s of the signing. (Not in this article anyway), because I am too excited to get to the main event… THE POLL! Every year, somebody throws up the “How many sacks will (insert player here) have”? Article. Since I’m new around these parts, I am going to seize the opportunity, before somebody else does.. hahahaha! It’s a dream I’ve had. So, I won’t spend anymore time yapping, and get straight to the point.

How Many Sacks Will Dwight Freeney Have this year? NOW… GO!!!!!

He will get 10 sacks 22 tackles and 4 forced fumbles. Not full beast mode but revived with our Bolts D. I’m putting this into the universe and so it is!

    • http://www.BoltBeat.com/ Peter Thompson

I don’t really care if he gets beast mode sacks… I just want him to get them when we need them… Not in garbage games.. Although that works for me too

  • Gunnar Martin

    Haha 6-9 ;)

    • http://www.BoltBeat.com/ Peter Thompson

6 won’t secure that signing bonus.. I would hope ; ) I mean.. Barnes had 11 sacks when there wasn’t much competition.. I would hope that Freeney can get close to that.

      • Gunnar Martin

Oh never mind. I guess nobody got what I was really getting at…

Well how ’bout that Dwight guy, huh? lol

        • http://www.BoltBeat.com/ Peter Thompson

Sarcasm.. Got it. I know what that is.

          • Gunnar Martin

Oh good I was getting worried there lol.

  • http://boltbeat.com/ Ernie Padaon

    Double digits!!!! Definitely believe it

    • http://www.BoltBeat.com/ Peter Thompson

YES!!!! Have you seen anything out there about what the sack bonus details are?

  • tubbs45

11.5 watch out Luck, you had better carry a shamrock when then bolts take the field…

    • http://www.BoltBeat.com/ Peter Thompson

      Beast mode it is!

      • tubbs45

A pass rusher with a chip on his shoulders and something to prove is a dangerous thing… If your a QB!

        • http://www.BoltBeat.com/ Peter Thompson

Or a 4.6 million dollar sack incentive! I would LOVE to know what that bonus entailed!

  • http://www.BoltBeat.com/ Peter Thompson

    How many QB hurries?

    • Rob Base

      I say 30

      • http://www.BoltBeat.com/ Peter Thompson

        Wow!

  • Ioane

I predict 13.5 sacks, 46 tackles, 3FF. Make the money worth it.

    • http://www.BoltBeat.com/ Peter Thompson

      Now THAT’S beast mode!

  • http://www.BoltBeat.com/ Peter Thompson

According to A LOT of people, this is our new pass rusher!

    • Gunnar Martin

      Say WHAAAAAAAAAAATTTT????!!!!!! lol

    • http://www.BoltBeat.com/ Peter Thompson

Doesn’t anybody remember Beast Man from He-Man? I must be getting old.. lol.

      • Gunnar Martin

Yeah man you’re ancient, I have no idea what you’re talking about haha. Sure hope Freeney turns out to be this “Beast Man” you’re talking about lol. But I’m gonna call him Dwight Freakey as of now.

        • http://www.BoltBeat.com/ Peter Thompson

          LOL.

  • Gunnar Martin

Wow all you guys have really high hopes for this guy so I won’t ruin the fun. I woke up today and felt A LOT better about the signing than before.
    GO BOLTS!!!!

    • http://www.BoltBeat.com/ Peter Thompson

I was thinking the same thing! I went with 9, simply because I hope he can at least replace SP95′s production. As long as 5 or 6 of those are on Manning, we may have a shot!

      • Gunnar Martin

Haha could you believe Freeney having six sacks on Peyton in one year?! That would be absolutely awesome. Wonder if anyone has had that many sacks on him in a single season before. My bet is that Dwight gets 7.5 sacks next year, with two and a half of those on Manning.

        • http://www.BoltBeat.com/ Peter Thompson

Manning might start wearing a neck brace when he plays us if that happens.. lmao!!!! Not wishing anything bad on Manning.. not my style… but wouldn’t that be horribly ironic if it was Freeney who took his neck out?

          • Gunnar Martin

Haha yes it would be. I bet he would feel incredibly mortified about it though, considering they were teammates for almost a decade. Just hope Dwight rubs it in his face for signing in the wrong division last year if you know what I mean ;)

          • http://www.BoltBeat.com/ Peter Thompson

            Wrong division is right!

      • MC Boltman

Wow, 9 would be awesome..but I´m fine with 7 or 8 too. With Freeney double teamed – Reyes & Luiget´s stats could improve.

        • http://www.BoltBeat.com/ Peter Thompson

I’ll take either, personally. The way I see it.. Tom Telesco did two very important things. First.. even though people aren’t thrilled that he didn’t get Freeney for a more modest price… he signed him now, and didn’t wait until later. This could be viewed as him being worried about somebody else signing him. I would think it’s to get him in camp NOW. That way, he is in better shape, can learn Pag’s system, and can rub of on some of these rookies. Now the unit has double J and Freeney to bring these young guys up. Secondly, he put a 4.6 million dollar sack bonus on the table. I am not going to pretend I know what Freeney’s old contract was… but 4.6 million dollars is a lot of cheddar… that buys a lot of college tuition, or Caribbean island houses, or Lambo’s.. or whatever his legacy will entail. One thing that was floating around, was that Freeney was about the cash. Well, there’s a nice chunk of cash.. Not sure what the details of that sack bonus are… But, I would hope it’s not 6 or 7.. unless he makes up for it in FF’s, QB hurries, etc. I bet Freeney wants some 9-11 sack action, no doubt.

It will get you pumped about Freeney.

      • http://www.BoltBeat.com/ Peter Thompson

You are right… That DID get me pumped!

        • Rob Base

          Same here!

          • http://www.BoltBeat.com/ Peter Thompson

I haven’t seen that many balls on the ground since doing push-ups in high school gym class… lol!

      • MC Boltman

Man..this is a great vid! Thanks for posting this here.

  • Santee Jack

    Left out zero…

    • http://www.BoltBeat.com/ Peter Thompson

On purpose. Not even going to entertain that. Plus nobody even picked 1-3… Lol.

  • chargerfan

    Believe in the bolts

    • http://www.BoltBeat.com/ Peter Thompson

I DEFINITELY believe in the Bolts. We may not be perfect this year.. but, everything I see so far is moving away from that “status Quo” BS we have been force fed under the Norv & AJ regime!

  • http://www.BoltBeat.com/ Peter Thompson

One more thing.. I am going to throw this out there.

Double J needs to NOT run into this guy, trying to get a friggin’ touch sack!!!!

  • http://www.BoltBeat.com/ Peter Thompson

Quick question.. Not trying to take anything away from Super Mel… but, do you think our 2013 pass rush just got better, now that Freeney is here? Obviously, we want Ingram to return, and get his piece of the pie. But, my thinking on this is, that someone needs to pick up the run detail from Johnson, so we can get him down the road… who is that guy? Also, Freeney will probably be retiring after this contract (I think.. unless he is bad ass still). I would love to see Ingram, and English (or whatever rookies step up) to learn from these guys, and step up into these starting roles. What better run stuffer, and speed rusher to learn from?!!!!
