Chargers Reach Deal In Principle With Dwight Freeney

The San Diego Chargers and Dwight Freeney have agreed on a deal in principle, according to Ian Rapoport. The deal is for 2 years and the dollars have not been reported yet.

There is the new pass rusher in town! Melvin Ingram went down and now the Chargers brought in Dwight to ease the blow.

Tom Telesco really has done a good job working with the salary cap to bring on talent to the roster. What are the plans at left tackle and is there a plan to upgrade the guard position?

This could be bad news for RG Jeromey Clary also. Clary is making the transition to guard, but his price tag is high for the position and he could free up room on the salary cap. This could mean the end of Eddie Royal also. It was going to happen sooner or later. Looks like it will be sooner!

The Dwight Freeney train will make it’s stop in San Diego. Let’s hope to see Freeney put his hand in the dirt and crush his boy Peyton Manning a few times this year.

I vote Royal goes. We could really use Clary now that he is a RG.

Does this mean Cam Thomas is changing his number again? Ha…

Sorry Cam!!! That probably was the last detail they were trying to finalize!

I’m trying to brainstorm who else we could cut…..royal definitely, goodman, whitehurst…….

    • Rob Base

Clapping! Coach McCoy was really wanting this guy.

They are too hot on Clary. My bet is Clary stays. We don’t like him, but the coaches seem to like him.

    • MC Boltman

Yeh…I guess so too, although he´s a fat cap hit. Cutting Whitehurst would save $1.3 million, but I´m afraid he won´t go anywhere. Royal is expendable in so many ways…saves $1.5 million.

Saves even more if we cut on June 1

        • MC Boltman

          Why that?

Wring the shammy for what he is worth, then cut him = )

    • Alter Ego

Wow ! I didn’t think we could do it – wasn’t for it. I’m very interested in how we pay him. I would consider releasing Royal, Whitehurst and Meachum. Not Clary.

  • MC Boltman

Man…I can´t wait to hear the contract details…cause thats what its all about – good deal or “not so good” deal…but its awesome TT really talked him into it.

  • MC Boltman

According to U-T San Diego, the Chargers (nealry) got $5 million cap space. As of June 1 we can add another $4 million. We still have to sign Fluker and we need to save some money for possible moves during the seasons. Cutting Royal saves $1.5 million #justsayin
