San Diego Chargers Sign DE/LB Thomas Keiser

The San Diego Chargers signed a defensive end turned linebacker today, but his name was not Dwight Freeney… at least not yet anyway. The San Diego Chargers signed former Carolina Panthers outside linebacker Thomas Keiser to a deal today. Keiser will add more depth at outside linebacker and give the team more options to use in different packages.

With Melvin Ingram going down, the team needs more bodies that they can throw at the situation. It probably already needed more depth without the injury to Melvin. Keiser had 4 sacks a couple of seasons ago and had half a sack last season in limited playing time.

No telling how the signing of Keiser will impact the possibilities of adding Dwight Freeney. If Freeney is signed, Keiser could be used to give Freeney a breather here and there. Hopefully we see another signing soon.
