San Diego Chargers Sign DE/LB Thomas Keiser

The San Diego Chargers signed a defensive end turned linebacker today, but his name was not Dwight Freeney… at least not yet anyway. The San Diego Chargers signed former Carolina Panthers outside linebacker Thomas Keiser to a deal today. Keiser will add more depth at outside linebacker and give the team more options to use in different packages.

With Melvin Ingram going down, the team needs more bodies that they can throw at the situation. It probably already needed more depth without the injury to Melvin. Keiser had 4 sacks a couple of seasons ago and had half a sack last season in limited playing time.

No telling how the signing of Keiser will impact the possibilities of adding Dwight Freeney. If Freeney is signed, Keiser could be used to give Freeney a breather here and there. Hopefully we see another signing soon.

    Problem solved…

    • RussinSactown

That and some duct tape and we might have something.

      • tubbs45

Don’t forget the paper clip! Maybe we should hire McGyver as a special consultant!

  • RussinSactown

Well let’s see where that goes.

    • tubbs45

Judging from the picture above I’ve already begun to question his tackling skills!

      • Cliff

        EXACTLY what I said!

  • philiprules

“Keiser will add more depth at outside linebacker and will give the team more depth at the position.”
    That’s some fine writing.

      • JoseSD

LMAO, That was a good show sucks it was canceled

        • Cgoodness13

Wasn’t canceled, just not continued really. It was ran way to late to get any viewers.

          • JoseSD

It probably wouldn’t have been that funny anyways since the Thad Castle character was a senior and would have to leave the school for the NFL

          • Cgoodness13

Alex decides to go pro, now the show follows their pro careers. Boom. I should be a movie director lol

      • MC Boltman

        Best Ever!

  • Mark Viguri

Don’t Chargers already have Gachkar for that role? Bird played well last year in preseason and late in the year and Mouton or DJ Smith are also available. All 3 aren’t going to be sitting behind Manti. At least Keiser can also play DE.

    • blu3ny3llow

Well for one he will play OLB ” if” he makes it…everyone else you mentioned is an ilb

  • TheReturnOfMrBlanks

Man, I’ve been super busy for a couple weeks and signed back on here a day or two ago just to see how the OTA’s were going and how the rookies were doing……The Ingram Injury is a real kick in the nuts, man I was so hoping to watch him rack up some sacks this year, I hope he can recover fully and kick some ass next year. Balls

    • http://www.BoltBeat.com/ Peter Thompson

All hell has broken loose, Blanks.. the sky is falling… and we already went 4-12 for 2013.. just while you were away.

  • Cgoodness13

Think this means English will start? Didn’t want what’s his name from the colts anyways. English did look good in preseason (noticed he either pushed off/swimmed of someone and hit the edge or strait up bull rushed them into the backfield).

    • Gunnar Martin

Don’t want Freeney either!!! We gotta wait this one out a bit longer for the best results, if that makes sense…

      • Nick in PB

I agree… let’s see what shakes out. English is a former first rounder. Let’s see if he can stay healthy and have some impact.

  • Cgoodness13

Anyone else think this is how the meating between telesco and big lazy went?

    • http://www.BoltBeat.com/ Peter Thompson

Or like this.. just insert Big Lazy wherever Bogey says Rocco.. lol

      • arnie

LMAO……..”i used to have hopes, but i gave them up. a world woithout BigLazy in it”. LOL

        • http://www.BoltBeat.com/ Peter Thompson

Key Largo is my favorite Bogart movie.. great stuff!

  • Rob Base

He wasn’t that bad when he played for Stanford. He received limited playing time with the Panthers because of a Elbow injury. I think its a good depth signing. The kid is eager to prove himself though so he could be a possible sleeper.

  • blu3ny3llow

Though I wish Melvin “the rap star” Ingram was healthy and had a good year….I kinda like this signing..might be a Barnes type….just saying though

  • arnie

looks like the young man is going into his thrid year. the only games he’s played in are the twelve he started in. best case cenerio, he’s barnes 2.0. worst case he’s the invisible mans (larry english) cousin, and will disappear whenhe takes the feild.

  • coachwill13

Only pic of this guy is him missing a tackle? swell.
