Former Indianapolis Colts OT Winston Justice Visiting Chargers

Former Indianapolis Colts OT Winston Justice is coming to town to visit the San Diego Chargers, per Michael Gehlken. He must have applied on craigslist ad for the opening at left tackle. Or he might have checked the NFL classifieds.

Tom Telesco has familiarity with Justice from their Colts days. I definitely am wondering why Telesco waited so long to bring Justice in to meet up. Telesco should know a ton about him, but it still took him some time to bring him to town. Max Starks and Bryant McKinnie already came to town for visits before Justice jumped on a plane.

Justice is a 6-foot-6 monster that is mainly a right tackle. I guess he could move over to the left side if needed, but that sounds a little like what we are doing with King Dunlap. We potentially could have four right tackles on our roster with DJ Fluker, Jeromey Clary, King Dunlap and Winston Justice.

Let’s just line up everyone on the right side and go for it. This league is about adjustments… right?

Not good that we haven’t heard from Starks yet. We’re in a bad position negotiation wise as these guys who we’ve been meeting with have all the leverage since they know the situation.

And the last time Justice started at left tackle, Umenyiora and the Giants had a field day with 12 sacks on the Eagles and McNabb. Pass.

      • Stefanie Smith

This really starts to get maddening.

Im guessing we sign after June 1st, now that we have our draftees all buttoned up. we will need some more $$, before we can land starks… But this process has been a bit like looking for a toilet when you have diarrhea, you can never get there fast enough!!!

  • Charge it.

He’s been a right tackle for two left handed QBs. Leinart and Vick

  • Stefanie Smith

You got it, Ernie. Make Rivers start throwing left handed.

    • Ernie Padaon

that might be our best idea

  • Cgoodness13

Depth I guess since clary is moving to guard.

  • Lee

is clary actually moving to guard? has anyone heard anything about the transition yet?

    • Ernie Padaon

he is at right guard…. first OTAs has him at RG and Rinehart at LG

      • Peter Thompson

  • Saul Lopez

I guess we know what side we’re running the ball!!

  • arnie

Ernie,I think this is good move, but as as priorities, justice has busy man. He’s visited with the brown, lions an steelers to name few.
However you should know better, than to compare him to king Dunlap. Dunlap is going back to his natural poisition at LT. Again, Vick was lefty mobile QB. Which leads the question, what makes you think he’ll be asked to compete at LT? Could it be they are looking for a back up at RT?

  • rahul

May be we can convert a few RT to work on Left side…:-) Exactly opposite of what KC is doing..:-)

Last ray of hope would be the UDFA Tackle shines and all the problems disappear. Just being optimistic..It’s glass half full

  • Ambitoos

Bring as many tackles as you can and let them compete.

  • Rob Base

Really…. REALLY… This LT bullshit is getting old. Lets sign around 4 or 5 RT’s and see who can compete for the LT spot. That fricken AJ Smith left a mess!
Ok I’m calm now. Thanks for letting me vent.

  • tubbs45

Winston would be at RT IMO back up depth for the Flukinator. They maybe prepping for the release of Clary regardless of him switching to guard. Starks will be signed with the Bolts on June 1… (fingers crossed)

    • Cgoodness13

Clary is aperntly a good guard according to interviews with rivers and McCoy. And what’s his name from the UT says he’s way better their.

      • tubbs45

Hey if they can afford to keep him at guard and dont need additional cap room to sign another tackle, I’m all good with him staying. The right side of the line will have some serious attitude!

        • Nick in PB

Right on Tubbs… I think that was the staffs thinking when they drafted Fluker. I trust this group is going to make the right moves with personnel, whether it shows up this year or next. They keep saying that they are going to put the best guys out there. Looks like they are already doing more with what we have then Norv did.
