Antonio Gates Thinks He Should Be Ranked Higher On Top 100 List

Antonio Gates thinks that the NFL Top 100 list is a joke too. We all have been saying this for a while. We knew that it was more of the same stuff this year when we saw Jacoby Jones ranking in on the list. BUT Gates thinks it is a joke because he thinks he should be ranked a lot higher on this list. Hmmm…

“Apparently they don’t watch football,” the longtime San Diego Chargers tight end said Thursday on the “Top 100″ aftershow. “I understand everybody’s opinion. Some people are stats guy, some people are into who catches the touchdowns and passes, who has 100-something catches. A lot of people are not really interested in what the game plan is about.”

“It’s funny to me because it’s a joke in a sense, it’s kind of funny.”

It surprised me that Antonio was even on the list. If he thinks that his performance last season was one of the best in the league, than he better raise that bar. He didn’t stand out from the crowd last season and the Chargers offense was terrible for a number of reasons.

Yeah, I couldn´t believe it first when I read it. It´s good when you got confidence and trust in your skills, but this statement is kind of a head scratcher to me. Whatever, if this is gets him heated to show them/us he´s better than that ranking, then “mission completed”.

I wonder how he reacted when he wasn’t on the Madden cover?

He had the least amount of yards this year since his rookie season. Due to a number of factors of course, but hey whatever Mr. Gates needs for motivation. Hopefully this will be a bounce back season for him.

I agree with Antonio. At what point was it his problem, his numbers were so low? he ran his route as they were designed. At what point did Gates not be able to catch a pass, when he was double covered before?

“Context”. Gates & PR have the same problem, they are victims of the same mismanagement, and poor coaching. If anything, the numbers reflect that, not there decline in skills. So i’m not shocked.

However, i’m not naive enough to believe, father time isn’t creeping up on them.
