Kiper’s Big Board Has 5 Left Tackles For the 2014 Draft

Mel Kiper posted up his big board for the 2014 NFL Draft and it is looking pretty for the Chargers. Of the top 25 players on the board, 5 of them are left tackles that we could possibly add to the mix up front.

Here are the guys listed by Kiper:

4 Cyrus Kouandjio *AGE: 19 HT: 6-6 WT: 311 Alabama

6 Jake Matthews AGE: 21 HT: 6-5 WT: 305 Texas A&M

8 Taylor Lewan AGE: 21  HT: 6-8 WT: 308 Michigan

11 Antonio Richardson *AGE: 21  HT: 6-6 WT: 332 Tennessee

19 Cameron Erving *AGE: 20 HT: 6-6 WT: 308 Florida State

* juniors or draft-eligible redshirt sophomores are noted with an asterisk.

Two of the guys will be entering the draft for sure, while the other 3 will have to declare for it.

If the Chargers can find a vet to lock down the left tackle spot for a year, there could be a young tackle that they can pick up in the 2014 draft to lock it down for years. Already going into the 2014 draft, we know that we will probably have to pick up a left tackle. Hopefully they all declare and the Chargers will get some good options with the last pick in the first round.

Wow, what A.J. Smith never has done, Telesco “has to do” in his first two years as GM: picking an offensive tackle in the first round of the draft. We´ll see…if #24 lets us down again, then TT probably will have to think twice if its gonna be a lineman again in the first round.

AJ had to do it the AJ way. Greasy haired A-hole. TT has got stones!

AJ would have picked a LT from 2 creek college because he never got in any trouble.

That is why I was happy the Chargers didn’t draft an LT when all 3 elite tackles were gone early. The OT spot is deeper in 2014.

Hey, just for knowledge sake, McCoy decides if there is going to be competition at a particular position, not TT. Somebody (maybe another site) was saying they were interested to see if TT wanted to have a competition at some position. Better be interested if McCoy wants one.

What happens next year when everyone gets their boxers in a wad because the best ones are out of our reach and we refuse to move up for fear we lose a pick?

    • davacho

what happens next year to everyone that wear briefs? or for those that like to feel a cool breeze beneath our knockers?! what then? what. then?

      • Gunnar Martin

        hahahahahahaha

My boxers are always in a wad anyway with this team.

It really sad we have to deal with this, smith should have delt with the manner years ago. Imagine if we had a decent LT, then we could be focusing on either CB or SS.

    • Dion Chin

MM was a great LT for us until he ran into injury problems.
