Antonio Gates Makes NFL Top 100 List

Remember when I was clowning this list just a few days ago with them naming Jacoby Jones to the list? Well, they put a Chargers player on the list and all things are good again.

Antonio Gates was listed as the 83rd 73rd best player in the league. He has been one of the top tight ends in the league for years and he still is getting the respect among his peers for his skills. He may have lost a step, but he still finds ways to get open. He also is getting more attention from the defense with less weapons on the Chargers offense.

Gates still can be a huge contributor on offense and will definitely get more mismatches with the wide receiving squad more beefed up. Keenan Allen, Danario Alexander and Vincent Brown should open up the middle of the field more for Gates to move those chains.

Will Gates be the only Charger on this list? He wasn’t even the best player on the team, but it definitely is a possibility. It’s a popularity contest and nobody else may have the attention like Gates.

If Eric Weddle is not on this list, it will be a dang shame!

Yeah I thought I saw that he was #73 or something like that. Either way, he made it and I’m glad.

Gates is the shiznit. Weddle will be there.

Of course – Gates is STILL a MONSTER in the NFL. A true game changer. I’m looking for he and Rivers to turn this whole damn thing around. These are quality guys with MASSIVE talent. GO CHARGERS!

  • Gunnar Martin

Let’s see who else could make it… Weddle for sure…still thinking…still thinking…could Corey Luiget be on there? He was pretty darn good last year. Who else?…brainstorming…Donald Butler? I would be ecstatic if he made it, he is so underrated….racking memory…DX could if he had been on the team longer, but not quite qualified… yeah that’s all I can think of.

If you guys can think of anyone else that could make it, feel free to tell me who I forgot.

the waterboy that held the sticky towel!

        Hahaha good one

Glad he made it, shows they recognize that he still can play, remember the Chiefs game? He made Eric Berry his bitch all day and for 2 td’s too. Am I the only one that thinks “Gatesy”” is a stupid nickname? It just sounds dumb to me. It kinda makes him comes off as weak, or less tough.and a nickname shouldn’t make your name longer if its a variation of your name, like Sproles’ nickname was long but it was cool and didn’t have sproles in it, he was the “Lightning Bug”

Glad for Gates, good to see he still gets appreciation. Don´t know why Weddle isn´t more popular among fans around the league…it was joke – the worst joke – he wasn´t voted into the Pro Bowl…but don´t wanna reopen old sores. Get the #32 warrior on that list and we BoltHeads won´t come at ya.

There is a good chance that DAX could be on it. His name kept coming up in that fan app they had on NFL.com where you pick who is better between two players. This was all part of leading up to this top 100 list. I was sort of shocked that his name and Liuget’s kept coming up.

I think Weddle will be on there. His peers know what he can do and brings to the game, as they did for Antonio–a future HOFer.

  • Cgoodness13

Weddle wasn’t even a option on the votings. Rivers was though.

    • http://boltbeat.com/ Ernie Padaon

      well that is just ridiculous

    • Gunnar Martin

How do you know? Just curious…

      • Cgoodness13

        I voted lol

        • Gunnar Martin

          That is GAAAAAYYYYYY

  • arnie

Notice how we don’t even mention Floyd, royal or meachum when we discuss WR.

    • Gunnar Martin

      *Meachem
