Chargers Add Another Quarterback

Tom Telesco and Mike McCoy have been asked about Tim Tebow a lot lately and the same answer keeps coming up. The respose is “we are very happy with the 3 quarterbacks we have on the roster…” but they always seem to add the little caveat “we will look at all avenues to improve the team.” Those aren’t the exact words that they use, but it is a little something like that.

Today (or yesterday… someone commented about it yesterday), they added another quarterback onto the roster. Not Tim Tebow, but they have not exactly close the door on that one either. Today they added Mike Hermann, an undrafted free agent from RPI.

Hermann is a 6-foot-5 quarterback out of a Division III school that runs a 40-time faster than Keenan Allen. He is mobile quarterback. He led his team in rushing.

Do I expect much out of him?

NO… but I do expect some fans to fall in love with him like they fell in love with Jarrett Lee. We shall see how that works out.

He gets his chance to play and he stiffed the Raiders to come over this way. The Raiders worked him out, but he decided to join our team instead. That will get you bonus points right off the bat.

Welcome Mr. Hermann…. If he makes the roster I will be calling him PeeWee.

smart move TT. without a decent LT we’ll need 4 or 5 QBS… LOL

    • Stefanie Smith

      You are so right, tubbs45!

      • TheReturnOfMrBlanks

        That was a good one

    • Peter Thompson

Best contents post material right there.

  • Stefanie Smith

I admit. I was a Jarrett Lee fan girl. Now, he has time to learn.

    • Peter Thompson

You should get a Jarrett Lee Fathead, in that case… Hahaha!

  • Mark Sh

I was so scared reading this it was abt to say Tebow. But good move TT

    • Stefanie Smith

People think I am a pain in the butt, I would spit fire if we had Tebow around. Too much circus for me and it would bother Rivers too much. Rivers doesn’t deserve that.

      • Peter Thompson

I grew up in England, and I once ran away to the circus when I was 4… Well actually, it was more like the carnival. But, my Mum and Dad had a search party looking for me. Then the gypsies who ran the fair found me, and turned me in. I was the last one riding the merry-go-round. That’s how I roll. True story… lol.

Even if TT brought in Tebow…. we got this. The Jets are just Morons, and didn’t use him the right way. They are a mess.

        • Stefanie Smith

Omg, in all seriousness, you had to be scared.

          • Peter Thompson

Probably a little bit, when the merry-go-round Not as scared as my folks were, though. Luckily, the gypsies who ran the carnival didn’t kidnap me.. hahaha!

    • tubbs45

That would be like getting kicked in the nuts after losing out on McKinnie

  • Louie Day Rivas

    Good stuff..TT
A moble QB that’s what am talking about.

  • Mauricio Vargas

A mobile quarterback? The offensive line zone blocking scheme is already coming, could the read option be coming to the San Diego?

    • veazy

With an undrafted, D3 QB? Hell no.

      • Mauricio Vargas

Un-drafted Gems are always the shiniest of jewels. Just ask the Rams and Oilers. :)

  • Don Rafa

Ernie, I doubt he really runs a 40 faster than Keenan Allen?

    • Ernie Padaon

      4.64 for him… 4.71 for Allen*

      *on their pro days

    • Gunnar Martin

His bad one while he was still pretty much injured, not his real one.

  • Ignatius

There’s no way he’ll even crack the practice squad as a qb but his size and speed does merit a consideration at WR or TE. Heck, they tried this on a basketball player a few years ago an it has worked so far.

  • blu3ny3llow

First of all not that I would want to see any other QB in the lightning bolts….than PR17…. but they were talking about this dude on NFL network before the draft n they show clips of him playing and looked like a quick huge linebacker running in TDs and slinging the rock…..if he shows good in otas and preseason wouldn’t mind seeing him as back up

    • Stefanie Smith

This is how Tom Brady got started. Sit back, learn, and wait for an opportunity. This project QB could also be developmental trade bait. Work him, get him good enough, show him around, and use him to trade, i.e Matt Flynn… Plus you constantly hear Mallett’s name bantered around.

  • Peter Thompson

I can hear Rivers whispering in TT’s ear now.. “Get this guy out of here! Billy and I had a great thing going, and then here comes Charlie again.. Just waiting to suck.. I can’t stand working out with him everyday! Heaven help us if I ever go down and he… Sssshhh… Here he comes… Hey Charlie! How’s it going!”

    Or something close to that.

    • Cgoodness13

I see what ya did their

      • Peter Thompson

Eh… wring the shammy, I guess. I may make it a “thing”.. lol.

  • Rob Base

What’s really going on in the hood? Telesco brought in another QB and one with talent.
    Can rookie camp start now!

    • Ambitoos

Not untill they can find a better left tackle.

      • Rob Base

That isn’t looking to promising right now. We will see. I hope Telesco gets it down.

  • JoshRogen

if Rivers goes down which QB currently on the rooster would be the starter?

    • Ernie Padaon

      Clipboard Jesus probably

      • Peter Thompson

Yuk.. and only because it’s true.

  • RussinSactown

So maybe the idea is to keep him around and then if King Dunlap gets Rivers killed, then they bring him in and we go read option.

  • MC Boltman

Hmm…4 QBs on the roster, but Clipboard Jesus still second string?…

  • Stefanie Smith

I still say that Jarrett Lee did not get enough time and he got the boot. Was dumb to even get him, because we did nothing with him.

  • Stefanie Smith

I am going out on a limb here. The major sports analysts are saying NoNE of the QBs in this draft are NFL ready yet. They are saying even the best ones of the bunch–are going to need a year.

But coaches love their personal projects. Each coach has one. BB with Brady and then Mallet, the Packers with Flynn and that other guy they bring out once in awhile. Seahawks = Matt Flynn trade bait.

Depth is not a bad thing. We haven’t had that in years.

  • 1961 Fan

Last year I recall saying we should have kept Jarrett Lee; some guy said after the fact “where is he now -sacking groceries at the piggly wiggly” I said that is where the Rams found Kurt Warner who then led the team to the Lombardi Trophy. You never know who will emerge as the ONE!
