Latest Bryant McKinnie Update: Taking A Physical This Morning

Bryant McKinnie is in the building early today and is taking a physical (nfl.com). Another step closer to getting this whole thing done.

It sure doesn’t look like we will be moving to that zone blocking scheme any time soon. It looks more like we are moving to a more power running gmae with a pair of 6-foot-mammoth men locking down the tackle positions and Jeromey Clary moving inside to play guard. I wish we had a running back that more durable.

If things go well today with McKinnie, we should be hearing about a contract signing soon. Bryant McKinnie will probably be the first one to tell us about it on his twitter account. He seems to be someone that likes to keep everyone updated on that kind of information.

We will share the info as soon as we hear.

This would explain the overnight stay. I hope the numbers work out and Bryant is fit to play. That line is looking better and better

    • BlueBoltFan

Definitely. McKinnie would only be a year or two stop gap, but a respectable one.

    • tubbs45

Sure hope they check that back and check his hands for xbox thumb and/or cheetos dust.

        hahahahaha

      • RussinSactown

You can beat Xbox thumb with a hand exercise. They have them at think geek. The cheetos dust, I got nothing

        • tubbs45

Classic!! RG4 you’re funny as hell!

      • http://www.BoltBeat.com/ Peter Thompson

If he gets signed, and Clary stays.. they can eat Cheetos together!

        • tubbs45

I think Clary is more of a Slim-Jim kinda guy…

  • tubbs45

Power running seems to be the option at this point. maybe another power back is in our future. Ivory would have been nice but the price was high.
Jacobs, Blount, Benson, Bradshaw, Redman, Hillis are all still out there. not really a huge fan of any of them.

oh my… Jacobs would fit nice to what we need on this roster. forgot he was available.

E, do we still have Battle??

          • http://boltbeat.com/ Ernie Padaon

nope. he is a free agent

          • http://www.facebook.com/people/James-P-Derrick/1654577989 James P Derrick

            More $ for other FAs

          • tubbs45

There will be a few cut before the June 1st deadline. wouldn’t surprise me if Clary, Royal, or some others were cut:

        • tubbs45

out of that lot, he would be my first call. Fozzy, Brown and Hill would have a tough time making the team. So much for the Fozzy, not a come back, come back!

          • http://boltbeat.com/ Ernie Padaon

hillis would be interesting to me

          • tubbs45

As long as we dont use him like norv did with Battle, straight up the middle, EVERY TIME he enters the game!!!

          • http://www.facebook.com/lostkiara Stefanie Smith

lol tubb45: Yep: Norv and his great offensive mind. Not!

          • http://www.BoltBeat.com/ Peter Thompson

We still have Edwin Baker too.

    • Bigfat55

Blount was traded to Patriots during the draft .

      • tubbs45

he still has yet to sign on the dotted line… His injury history and crazy ‘tude make me think TT wouldnt go that route anyways.

        • http://www.facebook.com/lostkiara Stefanie Smith

tubbs45: Nobody seems to like Blount. However, I remember games where he ruled it. No one could take that guy down. He jumped over people. I thought he was good, and I don’t know what happened to him.

          • IrishCarBomb

He was immediately replaced by the muscle hamster. Muscle hamster took me to a FF victory!

          • tubbs45

            Best nick name!

  • tubbs45

Bryant how was the Physical? ‘Its Cool’.

  • james

we should really utilize Jackie Battle @ RB

    • http://boltbeat.com/ Ernie Padaon

i hate Jackie Battle so much…. think there are so many better options.

      • tubbs45

Brandon Jacobs or Hillis, the battle experiment I believe is over…

        • http://boltbeat.com/ Ernie Padaon

i would love to have either of those bruisers to add to what we have…. a goal line/short yardage dude

          • tubbs45

            wait, thats not woodhead? LOL

        • http://boltbeat.com/ Ernie Padaon

they can also take a good amount of carries if/when ryan goes down

        • http://www.BoltBeat.com/ Peter Thompson

I’m not a fan of Hillis, personally. There were a lot of primaddona stories when he left Cleveland, and did he even do anything in KC last year? I don’t remember seeing much about him, so I am going with “no”. I equate that with us signing Battle from KC last year.

  • http://www.BoltBeat.com/ Peter Thompson

Bryant McKinnie has an appointment with Dr. Jellyfingers today!!! I would think this bodes well for us… unless you are in the “McKinnie 2.0″ mind set, and hope we don’t sign him.

  • tbell11

Hopefully we do sign him, but I don’t want to get my hopes up because he also took a physical in Miami.
