Bryant McKinnie Scheduled To Visit San Diego This Week

Bryant McKinnie has a visit scheduled to come back out to San Diego, per Jason LaCanfora. He is in Miami right now and has kept contact with Baltimore, but Tom Telesco is not dead set at having King Dunlap starting on the left side to protect Philip Rivers.

Hopefully the Chargers can get something done to sing McKinnie onto the roster. If they are able to sign McKinnie, Tom Telesco and crew were successfully able to upgrade the offensive line from the train wreck that it was last season.

McKinnie would be a stable starter on the left side of the line and DJ Fluker would be the new kid in town on the right side. The center will be held down by Nick Hardwick and the guard spots will be fought out between Jeromey Clary, Nick Rinehart and Johnnie Troutman.

Get this done and all “opportunities” are filled. Mount McKinnie and Mount Fluker! Sounds some kind of good to me. Especially after having Mike Harris and Jeromey Clary last season.

I take it the Miami talks are a no go. This is good

I won’t be happy until he is on a plane here… and out of Miami all together!

      • tubbs45

we need to hope they hop on the spanos express and get that shit done. lets not wait until miami gives it their best friggin shot… get his ass on the plane…

  • Sergio Quintero

Why doesn’t always seem that Miami is always a step ahead. Its becoming frustrating.

    • tubbs45

no shit!!! money talks and the cap issues have kicked us in the sack this year. Spanos should have realized that AJ’s interest was a last ditch effort to save his ass and not in the long term interest of the team.

  • Sergio Quintero

I’m guessing McKinnie is pushing hard for a 2 year deal with the Dolphins & Chargers. More than the money its the 2nd or 3rd year that will get that deal done.

    • http://boltbeat.com/ Ernie Padaon

the guaranteed money will be interesting for that multi year deal

  • http://www.BoltBeat.com/ Peter Thompson

I remember (quite stupidly in hindsight) when I thought MAYBE Gaither & Henderson could be the “Twin Towers”. If this gets done… that will be my new Nickname for Fluker & McKinnie!

  • TheReturnOfMrBlanks

Sweet, I’m really glad to hear this. I.hope he gets on a plane and doesn’t sign with the fins. Phillip should be at this meeting and give him his best sales pitch he’s got lol maybe even a PR bonus of $500,000 for signing lol

    • http://www.BoltBeat.com/ Peter Thompson

Any bonus should be contingent on games played, and the amount of times PR gets sacked, or hurried out of the pocket. Quite honestly.. the entire contract should be based around that.

  • BobInSD

The main question is motivation. We really don’t want to simply pad another retirement account with LT money. Hope Philip has a chance for a chat with him during the interview process.

Maybe the Chargers should secretly pay Rihanna to help “influence” his decision…….

  • Walker Texas Ranger

I think if he signs, or any left tackle, we ALL will feel a bit better about this season. There a few solid LT’s out there that can fill the void for now, and I’m confident we will get one. We don’t have AJ running the front office now which should give us all hope.

  • Aaron

I hope this wasn’t manufactured to force Miami’s hand. Who else is out there that the Bokts could sign???

    • http://www.facebook.com/lostkiara Stefanie Smith

Man, I never even thought of that. I sure hope he is not setting up appointments and pulling the Chargers’ chain just to create some buzz and pressure for a Miami deal.

      • tubbs45

The agents are no doubt playing each team(s) against each other.

    • http://www.facebook.com/aj.cunningham.7528 AJ Cunningham

This is a front by Miami to show KC that there are more tackles out there than B Albert. They want KC to lower their asking price from a 2 to a 3 or lower. Miami doesn’t want McKinney, and he is just a pawn. He will be protecting rivers blind side in 2013, and will do a damn good job

    • DougM

Winston is still out there, right?

    • DougM

Also Clabo from the Falcons, I think.

    • http://boltbeat.com/ Ernie Padaon

Max Starks…. The other guys are right tackles

      • Per Ola Öberg

        Any news about that guy?

        • http://boltbeat.com/ Ernie Padaon

          Nothing right now

          • Per Ola Öberg

  • BoltDaddy7

Mckinnie To visit chargers Tuesday! Sign his ass TT!

  • Sergio Quintero

I think all of us would feel a whole lot better if were talking about an OLine like this:
    LT Bryant McKinnie
    LG Chad Rhinehardt
    C Nick Hardwick
RG Jeromey Clary / Johnnie Troutmann
    RT D.J. Fluker

If that is their starting lineup for opening day, an average line is a realistic expectation, and with as good an Oline coach as they brought in, maybe even above average.
