Chargers 2013 NFL Draft: Trade Winds Are Blowing

The trade winds are blowing. All kinds of rumors about possible draft trades are starting to surface and a lot of them mention the Chargers moving up in the draft to try and select one of the tackles, Luyke Joeckel, Eric Fisher or Lane Johnson.

There are rumors that the Chargers could try to move up into the top 3 selections in the draft. The Jacksonville Jaguars and the Oakland Raiders could be trade partners and both of them are looking to move down in the draft.

The Chargers have also been mentioned as a possible trade candidate with the Cleveland Browns to try and get one of the left tackles.

Is it smoke?

The Chargers have a huge need for that left tackle. There are only 3 top guys available in this draft and the other guys have good potential, but still may need additional grooming. Will the Chargers pull the trigger to move up? It may cost a pretty penny.

Still haven’t seen many talks about the Chargers moving down and picking up additional picks. The fans would love it to happen, but that talk has been a little quiet on draft day.

Only a few more hours till we find out!

i wish it gave a point value for players on rosters… haha

      • FitzWilly

that would be very helpful lol

  • Sergio Quintero

Should be a buyers market, if the chargers trade up I believe they will offer no more the 1(11) & 3(76)

    • Ernie Padaon

yea… too many teams are trying to trade down and think that we can get a good deal if we do move up

      • TheReturnOfMrBlanks

How about adding Malcom Floyd to that package? Man we don’t really have tradable players besides WR’s.

        • Ernie Padaon

not sure how many people would want malcom

          • TheReturnOfMrBlanks

        • Sergio Quintero

I don’t think veteran players are part of any deal

    • FitzWilly

that only gets them to #8 with the Bills

  • Sergio Quintero

The rumor making the rounds is the chargers offer 11 & 45, for the raiders pick (3), and their 4th round pick.

    • FitzWilly

That’s far too much for my liking
Can’t see Tom (build through the draft) Telesco pulling the trigger on that one

      • Sergio Quintero

there is certain logic to it, they don’t lose picks in a deep draft and they are certain they get a LT. And the raiders get a 2nd rounder, and probably will try to trade down from 11.
At the end its a matter of what TT thinks.

        • TheReturnOfMrBlanks

Dang having no 2nd rounder would kinda blow but I dunno. All that for Johnson at the #3. I dunno almost trading 2 starters for 1 better starter.

          • boltingindiego

it would have to be for either fisher or joekel for sd to make that deal.

          • Sergio Quintero

Me personally I agree with you, if I would make that deal, it would be for Fisher or Joeckel.

          • joerockt

I don’t think it would be for Johnson. Only way for this to play out is if Fisher or Joeckel are there at #3.

      • joerockt

I could see that happening. Would suck to lose the second, but if the ultimate goal is get PR a stud T, then that’s just the way it is.

  • Phil Whipple

I would trade Rivers to the Jets for their 9th and 13th 1st round picks. It would free up $17 million of salary cap monies and it would allow for a complete ground up rebuild for the Bolts. Then the Chargers can take their 11th pick and move back with Minnesota or St. Louis given them 4 first round draft picks where they can get excellent talent to fill the needs they so need…..

    • TheReturnOfMrBlanks

They don’t have the cap to be able to do that, Sanchez would have to be delt elsewhere.

    • Stefanie Smith

Why would you scrap one of the few bright spots we have on the Chargers? So we can be like the Jets? You think that little of Rivers?

    • joerockt

I love how Phillip detractors comes up with all kinds of schemes to get rid of him, but never seem to come up with a replacement. Rivers was sacked 49 times last year. 49! Keep the guy upright and we have no reason to allow for a complete ground up rebuild. Why would any fan actually WANT to go through a rebuild?? Oakland and KC have been searching years for a capable QB. We’ve got a proven, capable QB. He needs protection, he needs weapons.

  • DougM

Hacksaw reporting that a 3 for 1 from SF is on the table. If Bolts don’t move up for a tackle and the tackles are gone by 11, they may deal with SF. I like it. Of course, Hacksaw isn’t necessarily a credible source.

    • Ernie Padaon

Oh hacksaw… But I would take that trade with SF

      • TheReturnOfMrBlanks

I’d do a 3 for 1 with the Niners all day before even considering anything else. You can draft 2 freakin tackles and hope 1 works out lol. Also if we move up maybe TT thinks Mouton and English are starters and he has less holes then we think?

  • 619chargers4life

    trade talks, gotta love em

  • supercharger77

DA just signed his tender according to Ricky Henne on!! WHOOO HOOOO!

  • Nick Mansoor

I think trading Rivers is a stupid idea. I mean as much as i HATE Rivers, trading him would only downgrade our starting QB postiton. Plus that means we HAVE to draft a rookie quarterback. The best thing I believe the Bolts can do today is hopefully draft a OT/OG. if all of the best ones are already gone, then we can draft the next best player from any position thats available and can help address our teams biggest issues. the players i really hope the Chargers draft in the first round would be either one of these players: Lane Johnson, Chance Warmack, Tavon Austin, Kenny Vaccarro, Dee Milliner, Dion Jordan or Johnathon Cooper.
