Mike Mayock Mock Draft: Chargers Select Chance Warmack

Mike Mayock has released his mock draft right before draft day and he has the San Diego Chargers selecting…

Chance Warmack, offensive guard out of Alabama.

If you look at his draft, he has the top 3 tackles all taken by the 4th selection in the draft. When the Chargers select with the 11th pick, Star Lotulelei is still available and we decided to select the guard instead. All 3 tackles and Jonathan Cooper were already off of the board.

Here is the reasoning from Mayock:

I had him rated as highly as anybody in the country this year. There were some concerns medically, and he’s not quite as good in space, but if you’re the Chargers, you plug him in at guard and your offensive line is better.

Of course you put him on the roster and the offensive line is better. You select any offensive linemen in the first round and your line better get better. We can probably add a 4th rounder and our line would get better.

The real question, would our team be better off by selecting Chance Warmack?

Yes it would be better, I’m happy if Chance is our guy.

  • tubbs45

I’d take him. I would rather have a few other, but it works. Seriously if Matthew’s cant run behind him, were in deep shit!!!

    • http://boltbeat.com/ Ernie Padaon

then Danny Woodhead would be our starter… and that sounds scary as heck

      • TheReturnOfMrBlanks

lol sure does. On Mayocks Mock what if the Titans take Warmack and Milliner is still there? It would be Star – Milliner – Mingo – Jones – Vaccoro to choose from. Watch we end up with Tank Carredine or something nuts like that

        • Ioane

If AJ was still our GM that might of been the case.

      • tubbs45

No way man Fozzy is makin a come back bitches!!

        • RussinSactown

Fozzy says “Don’t call it a comeback!”

  • RussinSactown

I can deal with this as the pick. And I agree with what Tubbs45 said but have to add “If Matthews can’t run behind that man then he’s got to go!”

  • davacho

i am happy, but not thrilled.

  • TheReturnOfMrBlanks

Would you guys do: our #11 pick 4th round pick & Malcom Floyd and Robert Meachem for the Chiefs #1? Fisher is the freakin man, I’d do it.

    • RussinSactown

Could we get them to take Meachem?

      • TheReturnOfMrBlanks

lol thats why I threw him in there….probably not but they could use a couple WR’s

    • Ioane

Chiefs would be stupid to make that deal.

    • Lee

nah. mostly cuz i love m80 but thats half our freakin wr squad to

  • Julien Bélair

    I rather have star

  • Ioane

I love Warmack, but I would of taken Star if he’s there or even Mingo. We could get a guy like Warford in the 2nd/3rd range or even a guy who’s a mean streak on the field like Quessenberry in the 4th that would also improve our line or even Armstead. You can’t pass on a guy like Star, after the first round there is a big drop off in D-Line talent. Guards is also deep in this draft.

    • boltingindiego

star would be hard to pass up but mingo is a reach at 11.

  • Cgoodness13

Him and troutman could be the most dominant guard combo in the league in a couple years, I expect we get a LT in FA and RT in the draft. Imagine Starks or McKinley at LT, warmack at LG, hardwick at C, troutman at RG, and either Fluker or Watson at RT (and maybe Pugh or Long). Rivers should have days in the pocket.

    • Cgoodness13

Btw isn’t Long pretty much Johnson in a Oregons uniform?

      • Lee

lol i totally was thinking the same thing the other day. only difference is i thing long is a little smaller

  • Supercharger77

Mayock is an idiot if he thinks Star is sitting there and the Chargers take Warmack. They have at least 5 guards on the roster. True they may not be as good but taking one that early makes no sense. These so called “experts” are overpaid and overrated. You heard it here first! Lane Johnson will be a Charger after tomorrow. Now pay me! LOL!

  • BlueBoltFan

I’m not big on taking a guard in the 1st round, but if we draft Warmack and then pick up Bryant McKinney in free agency, that would be a HUGE upgrade to our line!

  • Aaron Lane

I could see either Star or Chance being selected at 11. It’s kind if hard to justify a guard at pick 11 in a guard rich draft.
