1 Day Left Till the Draft...

One more sleep till the awesomeness of draft day. Hopefully it lives up to everything that we are hoping for. Hopefully this is a legendary draft class that Tom Telesco is able to haul onto the roster and we are able to make some big things happen next season.

How many holes do we have? Too many.

With the 11th pick in the draft, the San Diego Chargers select…..

Who will the Chargers be adding to the list? Corey Liuget a couple of seasons ago and Melvin Ingram last year. Hopefully Ingram can step his game up this season and make a huge impact like Liuget did.

I have so many dream scenarios of the draft tomorrow and all of them involve us signing a left tackle in free agency instead of selecting one with the first pick. I am all about the sexy pick. I am all about a playmaker in the first round.

What about you all? Would you rather go with the sexy selection or go with a player in the trenches?

Sound off.

One more sleep away!!!

You can tell what Ingram is thinking holding up that jersey, “gross that dudes neck looks like something from a Stephen King movie, it’s the stuff of nightmares, oh god I feel it staring into my soul”.

    • http://boltbeat.com/ Ernie Padaon

Hahahaha… Remember how Melvin never smiled during that whole thing. We all thought he was pissed!

      • Cgoodness13

He just didn’t want to open his mouth in fear of some kinda “norv spore” spraying from his neck and infecting him. I should write fan fiction shouldn’t I?

        • http://boltbeat.com/ Ernie Padaon

          Hahahaha… Yup

        • tubbs45

          Ewwwwwwww, Norv juice….

      • JoseSD

I thought he was mad the Chargers picked him I didn’t see him smile once. It gave me flashbacks of Eli remember the way he held the jersey with his finger tips not even stretching it out with that stupid look on his face

        • tubbs45

I think he was pissed that he dropped so far down the board…

  • ECAVILLE/Ace of Spades

Kenny Vaccaro all the way! I believe SD could get a Left Tackle rental this year that can prepare a lower round Left Tackel for next season. Mike Harris was set up for failure last season and expect his experience to make him a better back up at least.

  • TheReturnOfMrBlanks

I kinda want Star or Ansah if he drops. Whatever happens its going to be exciting

Sexy pick, i said it once and ill say it again tavon austin is the offensive answer , yea we have alot of wide receivers but doesnt hurt to have a franchise one like we did with jackson, I think he would be an offensive weapon for rivers at least thats my opinion haha

    • JoseSD

A 5’9 165 lb guy as your franchise WR…. No. it worked with Carolina and Steve Smith, but Smith is one of the toughest players in the league not afraid to go toe to toe with bigger DBs and outmuscle them in both run blocking and going after a pass, that’s not Tavon Austin’s game

      • http://boltbeat.com/ Ernie Padaon

What about Wes Welker or Desean Jackson?

        • JoseSD

You consider them Franchise WRs??? I’m glad you finally moved on from your man crush, I at least like your new one pairing Vaccaro with Weddle. But Austin is not a franchise WR. Welker catches a lot of passes but he has proved in two super bowls he can’t come through when they need him. And seriously Ernie? Desean Jackson? A bean pole WR/return specialist, come on now. When I think franchise WR I think of Megatron,, Reggie Wayne , Fitzgerald, AJ Green, Andre Johnson not a glorified slot receiver

          • http://boltbeat.com/ Ernie Padaon

I wouldn’t call them franchise wide receivers… Wouldn’t even call Steve smith a franchise wide receiver, but they are explosive receivers that can change the game on one play. We don’t have that on offense anymore. Maybe Danario?

          • JoseSD

Yeah but I don’t like the idea of taking Austin in RD 1 there’s other players with similar skill sets and they already have Darren Sproles Lite in Woodhead. It won’t matter who’s running the routes if Philip is on his ass. Remember the way Philip used to be fearless in the pocket some defender would be barreling down on him and he would step up and deliver a strike a split second before he was hit . He doesn’t have that clean pocket without Dielman. if they can’t get a LT or Cooper/warmack I think they should go defense

          • http://boltbeat.com/ Ernie Padaon

I will give you that, but the draft doesn’t end at round 1. There are good guards available in the next round.

I wouldn’t mind defense in round 1 either. Of course you know that also

          • JoseSD

If they took Austin I wouldn’t be disappointed but they better have a good plan for protecting Philip

          • http://boltbeat.com/ Ernie Padaon

I would be excited BUT… Exactly what you said.. Better have a plan

          • shane

I’m 100% opposed to picking austin, he’s way overhyped due to a weak wr group. this guy will never be a “franchise” wr type. he’s a flash in the pan, exciting guy will put up some good high lights…very very similar to desean jackson. I really hope we don’t go for him, ryan swope in rd 3 would be just as productive if not better, a tougher wes welker type guy. rivers was shredding up defenses throwing balls to ajirotutu and mcmichael, if he has time it really doesnt matter who he’s throwing it to. Unless we got a vincent jackson type who could fight off dbs to snag rivers’ fluttering deep balls…austin is far from that, he’s like a more exciting eddie royal, and minus his injuries we’ve all seen how effectively we’ve used him. If we can’t get OL defense all the way. we’re becoming a defensive team, young tough, playmakers…sick

  • Rob Base

Sexy time ya! I mean sexy pick would have to be Austin no doubt!

I have some players that I am hoping we pick the next three days. However, it really doesn’t matter. I’m more concerned on how we treat these guys 4-5 years down the road. Are we going to become a team that players want to re-sign with and an organization that signs guys who deserve to be here. Or are we going to be the same old, tired organization that gave the boot to VJ, Rodney, JJ, Fred Dean…the list goes on and on. I hope, more than anything, that Telesco can change the image of the Chargers around the league. Tomorrow is simply a beginning.

    • tubbs45

Preach it brother! Build them up and let them walk is no way to build a winning club. I have a feeling with the new CBA that maybe changing…

    • http://www.facebook.com/lostkiara Stefanie Smith

Edward: You are so right. Changing the image and treating the guys well. Rodney talks a lot about how he was treated. Maybe TT, McCoy and the Spanos family will all change that.

  • Lee

i have faith in ingram. look at luiget, he was already being called a bust before last season started and when it started he turned dat shit to da next level! besides that i would love warmack in the 1st. i know hes a guard and it might be a reach for the 1st round but warmack is like a once in a decade o-lineman. and i still have hope we will pick up eric winston in FA. then we can get a LT in draft whether it be armstead or whoever. thats a sick sounding OL right there. oh and did i mention we could cut clary for extra cap?

  • arnie

Yes one more day until all the mock drafts are silent. One more day until all the pissing, moaning and crying starts on why the Chargers didn’t get this player, or that. One more more day, until al the “experts” foolishly try to explain, why things didn’t go according to their plan.

    • http://boltbeat.com/ Ernie Padaon

so much truth to that! haha
