Mike Mayock Doesn't Believe DJ Fluker Will Get Past Chargers

Mike Mayock thinks that the San Diego Chargers will not let DJ Fluker get past them with the 11th selection in the draft. He feels that the Charger have no starting tackles on the roster, so it would be stupid for the team to not select an offensive linemen in the first round (That was transcribed with my words of course).

DJ FREAKING FLUKER?!

I like DJ Fluker, but we shouldn’t reach and make that selection with the 11th pick in the draft. I understand Jeromey Clary sucks balls, but we can’t be reaching to fill holes. We might as well reach for a left tackle at that spot then and select Menelik Watson with the 11th selection.

Fluker has been projected as a late first rounder in a lot of drafts.  He can be a starter at right tackle for a team for a long time. It wouldn’t be a BUST of a pick, but it still would be disappointing.

How would you all feel if we made that choice in the first round with our 11th pick?

I wouldn’t like this pick… I like the dude but not at 11

    • boltingindiego

if we want to take him trade back to the mid 20′s to select him.

  • Rob Base

DJ Fluker @11 is crazy talk!

  • Sergio Quintero

This is more a reflection on how horrible the Oline for the chargers looks to the rest of the NFL. I don’t know what is the perception of the chargers own front office, but the generalized opinion out in the NFL is this 32nd out of 32 teams Oline.

    • http://boltbeat.com/ Ernie Padaon

true… it would be hard to argue with that perception tho

    • http://boltbeat.com/ Ernie Padaon

well.. .that is the truth. hard to argue with them tho

  • tbell11

1st, does he fit our new scheme and 2nd, that would mean Telesco is fine with King Dunlap at LT. Rivers might not be though. Can I get a hell no please.

    • http://www.facebook.com/lostkiara Stefanie Smith

      Hell no.

    • tubbs45

      Hell NO not at 11

  • boltingindiego

if you want to talk about reaching for a pick then this is the perfect example.

  • RussinSactown

To call it a reach would be an understatement. This is something AJ would do. In fact the best way to imrpove the team is to say “What would AJ do?” and run the opposite direction.

    • tubbs45

AJ would go for a small school reach with Armstead

      • boltingindiego

yah he would go with armstead at 11 just like he did with english in the 1st.

      • http://www.BoltBeat.com/ Peter Thompson

I don’t know… sounds like AJ, but he doesn’t have the word “BUST” already as a part of his name.. lol.

        • tubbs45

          Hahaha… Tru dat!

    • http://boltbeat.com/ Ernie Padaon

that sounds like a good post…. hmmmm

      • Gunnar Martin

Just was looking at some of my previous comments on the last month’s articles and man do we all look stupid now.

        Fluker??!! Are you CRAZY Mayock?!!!
        LOL

  • TheReturnOfMrBlanks

Wow Mike Mayock and his bold claims, how the hell do we reach for a RT? Might as well take Armstead if thats the case and at least know we have a LT. Wowzers, I’d rather go BPA all day long then completely reach for Fluker.

    • http://boltbeat.com/ Ernie Padaon

      all day!

      • TheReturnOfMrBlanks

Dude if we can somehow get Armstead and Warford, we will have the all time badassness O-line names all with 2 syllables. Just gotta replace Clary with another. How about this:

        LT: Armstead

        LG: Warford

        C: Hardwick

        RG: Reinhart

RT: Dunlop? Need a better name here but it still works….maybe Marquardt in the 4th round or we gotta trade for Phil Loadholt, he would complete the list of names for sure lol Sounds like a bunch of tough dudes to me.

        • http://boltbeat.com/ Ernie Padaon

loadholt would fit perfect in that list of names!!! hahahaha

          • TheReturnOfMrBlanks

Did you see on Deadspin Tavon Austin scored a 7 on the wonderlic? I guess 10 is considered Literate lol C. Patterson scored a 11. I bet they didnt read the questions and guessed on them all.
Most likely it was a team that wants Austin to drop to them would be a reason for the leak of scored.

          • http://boltbeat.com/ Ernie Padaon

hahahaha… all tavon does is scores 7s… see what i did there.. hahaha

          • TheReturnOfMrBlanks

lol good one, his writing looks alittle better then mine so…..

          • http://boltbeat.com/ Ernie Padaon

also, here is one of his answers

          • Gunnar Martin

            Hahahahah that’s hilarious

          • Rob Base

Bahahaha that’s fricken awesome! Killing me Ernie!

          • FitzWilly

            :)

          • jamfed

Armstead cannot start in the NFL in his first year. He’s a PROJECT with decent skills, but he’s NOT a starter at this point in time.

          • TheReturnOfMrBlanks

Thats your opinion, Last year every tackle taken in the first 4 rounds started.

          • http://www.facebook.com/lostkiara Stefanie Smith

NFL Network is talking that Armstead might be this year’s draft steal.

    • http://www.facebook.com/lostkiara Stefanie Smith

      Agreed.

    • boltingindiego

yah i don’t understand why mayock said that because dj played only rt during his time at bama. It might be a little different if he played at least a year at lt but this isn’t the case. Who would reach for a rt at 11.

      • http://www.BoltBeat.com/ Peter Thompson

Cleveland? I hope… hahaha! They did take Weeden fairly high.

        • boltingindiego

          haha thats a good one.

      • arnie

he could be a good pick-up, but to get him i see the Charger in a cenerio of trading down.

  • http://www.facebook.com/lostkiara Stefanie Smith

Mike Mayock also thought Blaine Gabbert was the creme de la creme of that draft. He is turning into a nut. And he is beating up on Geno Smith to the point of being almost insulting.

    • http://boltbeat.com/ Ernie Padaon

      wait… he isnt awesome??

      • http://www.facebook.com/lostkiara Stefanie Smith

        You truly are priceless. lol

  • http://www.BoltBeat.com/ Peter Thompson

Mayock has clearly not had enough sleep, been entertaining too many scenarios, and staring too long into the sun & at draft boards… he’s gone cross-eyed, and totally bonkers. He’s just throwing things out there now, and saying “Ta-Da”!!!

    • TheReturnOfMrBlanks

Yeop it’s official the guy has been looking at his computer so screen so long he has completely lost his mind. he’s probably trying to get his mock alittle different then other people’s so if he’s right he’s looked at like a guru and if wrong he can just say he was joking lol

      • http://www.BoltBeat.com/ Peter Thompson

That’s a real fancy-pants Mock he’s got going there, if he has us taking Fluker at 11… yikes!

  • FitzWilly

    Holy Moly E-Dawg

Sucking balls, and reaching to fill holes??????????????????

What exactly is going on down there?

    • http://boltbeat.com/ Ernie Padaon

hahahahhahaha…. dang it that is funny!

    • http://www.BoltBeat.com/ Peter Thompson

      So awesome!

      • FitzWilly

        I hope Clary’s mom isn’t reading these
It’s not the way you wanna find out
your little boy is a Colon Cowboy :(

        • http://boltbeat.com/ Ernie Padaon

oh man… you are killing me with this today! haha

    • tubbs45

LMAO… I may have just shart while laughing!

      • FitzWilly

        Awesome
        LMAO

  • boltingindiego

for a rt do you think mike harris could develop as our future starting one.

  • FitzWilly

Speaking of playing the “skin flute”
    7 Days Left

    • Rob Base

      Nice Flutie Flakes

  • Gunnar Martin

    Mayock has always been stupid…

  • jamfed

    LOVE IT!!!!!!!
Worst case scenario, if the TOP three left tackles are gone, it’s not a bad idea to get DJ Fluker. I’ve said this before, DJ Fluker is the most intimidating player in this draft. Really, he’s a HUGE MONSTER of a linemen! I’d take him, start him at LEFT TACKLE and be happy about it.
Tamba Hali and Von Miller are the only decent pass rushers in the AFC West and Fluker could dominate little Miller and short arm Hali.
    .
    DJ Flukers ARMS: 36 3/4″ (Joeckel: 34 1/4″ – Fischer: 34 1/2 – L.Johnson: 35″ 1/4″ – Loadholt: 36 1/2″)

Have you seen the ESPN Sports Science about DJ Fluker? it’s great…

BTW: Loadholt played left tackle for Oklahoma.

Don’t worry, Lane Johnson will be there at #11, maybe even Fisher…

    • boltingindiego

really you trust him at lt when the only position he played at bama was rt.

      • jamfed

Worst Case Scenario? Sure… I like him…Marcus McNeil part two…

      • arnie

it’s transition period. they would have to see if he can make the adjustment in camp, to LT.

    • http://boltbeat.com/ Ernie Padaon

      Meh

  • Sergio Quintero

The rumor making the rounds is that Arizona loves this guy, they want to run a power scheme, and the guy is the best run blocking OT in this draft, that he will RT or guard, but they may like him more than Lane Johnson.

  • RussinSactown

If he is the only option at tackle we see at eleven then I want TT on the phone to anyone from St. Louis on back trying to trade down. Look at grabbing Armstead, Long and other linemen that are hungry

  • Cgoodness13

I’ve repeated this thousands of times, the nfl has no love for this organization. If rivers was on anther team like the dolphins for example, they’d say he was the best QB in the leage.

    • boltingindiego

he was rated highly in 2010 but took a hit after these past 2 years of turnover fest.

      • Cgoodness13

Didn’t Eli have 2 down years and they still worship him?

        • boltingindiego

          its the 2 sb’s

  • Julien Bélair

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO don’t reach for this guy. he can’t even block on pass pro

  • http://www.signonsandiego.com/ Ambitoos

The Broncos have this season wrapped up before the season even starts. We need strengh on the left side of the line. This guy only plays on the right. I say we can trade down and still pick up a good tackle or guard and build draft choices for next year. That is unless one of the big four, Joekel, Fisher Warmack or Lane Johnson is available.
