Chargers 4 Round Mock Draft: What The Fans Want

Dec 26, 2011; Shreveport, LA, USA; North Carolina Tar Heels guard Jonathan Cooper (64) prepares for the snap during the game against the Missouri Tigers at Independence Stadium. Missouri won 41-24. Mandatory Credit: Spruce Derden-USA TODAY Sports

I posted my 5 Round mock draft last week and there were a number of you that disagreed. I understand, we aren’t going to agree all the time. Based off of all of the comments, here is what I gather would be the fans choice for draft picks.

Round 1: OG Jonathan Cooper
Been hearing that we would rather have Cooper over Chance Warmack because we are moving to a zone blocking scheme. Cooper would bring immediate help to the offensive line and will start on the left side of the line.

Round 2: LT Terron Armstead
If we don’t select a tackle in the first round, then we have to get one in the second round. Here is the tackle that has been mentioned a lot around these parts.

Round 3: LB Sio Moore
Been looking for that linebacker to add to the defense. Moore would fill a need nicely for the team.

Round 4: CB Leon McFadden
Bring in the local kid to play corner next to Derek Cox. We love our local kids.

Does that sound about right guys? Would you all be satisfied with that draft? Would things be all peachy keen with those selections?

I particularly would hate the 2nd round selection, but I know I might be in the minority on that one.

Thats a dream mock, Ill take it all day!

Actually my dream mock would be

    round1 lane johnson

    round 2 mante teo

    round 3 tyronn matheiu

    round 4 marcus lattimore

    • http://www.facebook.com/ryan.outlaw Ryan Elliott

2,3,4 would be unlikely, I doubt the new regime being as quiet as it has been would even think of bringing in anyone who may bring the circus with them, all 3 can be sure to bring that. Any unwanted distraction is not what this team needs.

      • boltingindiego

lattimore wouldn’t bring a distraction to the team

        • http://www.facebook.com/ryan.outlaw Ryan Elliott

I meant by disctraction from Lattimore being, The media would follow him every step of the way to find out how his knee is doing,

          • boltingindiego

its a feel good story but if he did come to diego he would be late round pick which would dampen the story. Teo and mathieu are much more interesting because their negative stories which are much more appealing to the media.

Johnson and Lattimore I’d be ok with. Could probably get Knile Davis in round 5 though. Te’o got flattened by Bama…not sure he’s ready for NFL competition unless he bulks up. Matheiu…well, I’d be shocked if he doesn’t pop on a drug test or three during his NFL career.

    • Cgoodness13

That’s a even bigger dream mock lol

  • davacho

    1, 2 and 4 are money. : )

  • DanishBolt

ILB or DT in 3rd and then a pure pass rusher in the 5th

  • DanishBolt

Best case scenario would be, if we traded down to 16th and got an extra mid round pick and then took one of the OGs in the 1st (if Lane is gone)

    • boltingindiego

beat me to it with this post. Would be nice to get an extra 1 or 2 picks by trading down and still gettin an OG.

  • Jk

I can’t say this mock leaves me thrilled for next season but it is sensible and I’d take it right now

  • http://www.facebook.com/ryan.outlaw Ryan Elliott

No! Do it again!!!!!!! but this time make it better!!!!!!!!!!!

Personally, I’d love our draft to go like this

Would even take Warmack over Cooper, I really like them both.

IMO if we don’t take a LT in the first, would it be wiser to just sign Mckinnie and take Alex Okafor in the 2nd or is Armstead really going to help our O line?

Sio Moore and Mcfadden would be great

  • tbell11

OG, OT, ILB, RB, CB, OLB, WR should be our selections in a full 7 round draft in no order. I put WR in there if we lose Alexander.

  • jose b

    1st round Star Lotulalie
2nd round trade for Brandon Albert to Kansas City

    • boltingindiego

i seriously doubt we can bring in albert with our cap situation.

      • Edman5484

Kansas City is not going to help up get better.

        • RussinSactown

And we shouldn’t help them either.

  • Cgoodness13

If we take cooper, we’d have to start Rinehart, if take warmack, we’d have to start troutman, id rather focus on youth so id take warmack so we can match him up with troutman. Plus that’s one nasty and powerful duo.

  • Sergio Quintero

    My dream mock is
    1 Lane Johnson OT
    2 Tank Carradine OLB
    3 Keenan Allen WR
    4 Brandon Williams NT
    5 Leon McFadden CB
6 Luke Marquadt RT/OG (the huge OT from Azusa Pacific)
7 Michael Hill RB (The over 2000 yards RB from Division 2)

    • http://www.BoltBeat.com/ Peter Thompson

I can see Telesco going 2 & 6, based on name alone.

    • Rob Base

Nfl network compared Marquadt to Dunlap which is lame dude is a beast! Only concern is his foot injury. I think he’s a steal for the 6th rounder! Good mock draft

  • http://www.BoltBeat.com/ Peter Thompson

Been so tempted to do a mock draft, and I can’t. Not until I know if McKinnie is on the team, or not. Too many questions still. Maybe I’ll take a stab at it on the 24th?

    • http://boltbeat.com/ Ernie Padaon

Hahah… That’s why I stated we sign McKinnie in my draft.. Haha. Do one with McKinnke and without. Haha

      • http://www.BoltBeat.com/ Peter Thompson

        I dunno. Maybe.

  • C.Steele

As much since as that draft line up makes sense, I must say for some reason it leaves me underwhelmed. I know both guards (Cooper and Warmack) are suppose to be all world, but I can’t help but wonder would Star Lotulaie pay higher dividends in the form of one the most dominant DLines in the game. Not to mention, taking some of the pressure off of whatever suspect ILB that will be starting next to Butler this season. If we went that route I would forgo the drafting of another OLB in the third to take the best guard on the boards provided the “value” is there. Love the idea of taking the local talent in the fourth.

  • OP Bolt

There may be multiple reasons for choosing Cooper over Warmack. However, those that suggest that Warmack is unsuitabie or inexperienced in a zone blocking scheme apparently have not read about Alabama’s inside and outside zone blocking scheme. For those who care, or who may have interest in evaluating/possibly drafting other Alabama offensive linemen (Jones/Fluker) see Don Kausler’s story at:
    http://www.al.com/alabamafootball/index.ssf/2013/01/inside_zone_the_inside_story_a.html

    • http://boltbeat.com/ Ernie Padaon

haha… i am right there with you. was wondering why people keep saying that Warmack can’t do it. Also, wondering why we all insist we are sold out for zone blocking, but that is a different story

  • Dawg guy

I’d be OK w/ those picks but certainly wouldn’t consider it a tremendous success. I think Chargers need to bite bullet and trade up to secure Eric Fisher. Give up the 1st and 2nd and go get the best player in this draft. Nobody likes idea of giving up picks, but Fisher gives true franchise LT. If no trade up, sign McKinnie and draft Warmack. In round 2, Teo.
