Remember Vincent Brown?

Today I was just looking at the Chargers OTA pictures and then I noticed Vincent Brown. I forgot how we still have a potential Pro-Bowl Receiver on our roster. Brown must be able to stay healthy though. He has had two severe injuries in his first two years as a Pro.

But you can just tell how talented this guy can be. We saw Vincent Brown in games a couple of seasons ago and the flashes of a Pro Bowler he made. We also saw him light it up in the Preseason versus the Packers and Cowboys before he broke his ankle. I believe that Brown could push Floyd for his starting job next to DX. Watch out Charger fans this guy will make us forget about the other Vincent!

if im not mistaken VJ struggled with injuries as well his first few seasons in the league. VB will be alright and he will push Floyd, Meach, and DX or who ever else is on the roster in my opinion.

I got confused for a minute Brown and Jackson go by VJ….yeah his 1st year it was hamstring issues I think…it was hopefully just adjusting to the NFL…I think he will be on fire

      • arnie

Nah, he was a victim of the former S&C staff.

  • Cgoodness13

See why I’m so against drafting a WR?!

    • Sergio Quintero

other needs are so much higher on the list: The chargers have to get from this draft: 2 starters for their OLine, 1 pass rusher, 1 RB who’s capable to get 15-20 carries in a game because we know Mathews is going to miss his 1-3 games, and backup NT because Thomas is the only one on the roster. I think that pretty much covers your first 5 rounds.

i would also throw in a ilb to play opposite butler.

        • Sergio Quintero

With so many needs I’ll play the sink or swim theory on Mouton, have him play until he proves he can’t play. Its ridiculous a 2nd round ILB has done so little entering his 3rd year.

Personally.. I just think they need one starter on o-line.. Left Tackle. Especially if we are moving even close to the direction of zone blocking.

        • Sergio Quintero

I haven’t read anything on Troutman to make me a fan or optimistic about him, I hope I’m wrong. I know Rhinehardt will be one starter but the other may come from this draft, especially if they don’t trade up, and the draft plays out like many expect.

          • Cgoodness13

He’s the bench king of his draft class, great pass blocker, below average run blocker do to his speed.

      • Cgoodness13

Woodhead can backup mathews just fine, Johnson can provide some pressure, English might actually be a good pass rusher if he gets playing time, definitely need depth at the defensive line, and another CB wouldn’t hurt

        • Sergio Quintero

They still lost their 2 most productive pass rushers from the last few years, Johnson & English are still maybes, I want another talented guy as an option. You can never have enough pass rushers, as we have learned from the Giants.

The Chargers need to address to OT, ILB, CB, RB, OG, OLB, and then either WR, QB, or SS. I didn’t put NT because I think they’ll sign one via FA.

    • Sergio Quintero

They have 7 picks, and even less if they trade up. I’m certain they’ll take 2 Olineman, 1 OLB, and a mid to late round RB. The rest, your guess is as good as mine.

I think V-Brown was a huge piece of what was supposed to happen last season. If we go into the season with a healthy Gates, Floyd, Alexander, and Brown.. I feel like Meachem & Royal will have something to prove. If they don’t, maybe Willie or Goodman will. We’ll find out in camp & preseason.

  • BoltBoy

V Brown is gonna be one of those guys you see every year that come out of nowhere and rack up lots of nice stats. Whether he’s gonna be playing in the slot or on the outside because of injuries etc, he’s gonna tear apart defenses cuz they won’t no what’s coming.

  • NvrTllMeThOdds

This is why I think it is funny when I hear the expert talk about the Chargers possibly taking Tavon Austin or Patterson in the first round. If the Chargers re-sign DX before the draft, which we should know by next Friday, I don’t even see any reason for them to draft a WR. The WR roster will be: DX, Floyd, V. Brown, Meachem, Royal, Goodman, and don’t forget they just picked up Deon Butler and another WR from the Giants practice squad. They probably won’t carry more than 6 WRs, so they really do not need to waste a draft pick on another, let alone a 1st round pick. As long as they improve the O-line so that Rivers isn’t running for his life every play, this group of WRs is more than sufficient, and between DX and a healthy Brown, could develop into one of the best WR groups in the league.

  • NateLew

Pro Bowler is probably a big stretch. If he’s a potential pro bowlers than almost every team has one of those. We may have the quarterback that can help him reach that production but unless our oline improves Rivers is still an average 3,500-4000 yard QB. I like his potential to get 6-700 yards and some scores in the slot if he stays healthy but even then he has competition for playing time.

  • arnie

See Josh, that right there is why i don’t buy the”to many holes” talk for this team. V-Brown is a perfect example of player that can fill those needs. It’s not like the Chargers don’t have enough players to fill a roster. In fact, they have more than enough, they just don’t know what they can do.
