Former Colts NT Antonio Johnson Visits San Diego Chargers

Indianapolis Colts NT Antonio Johnson came to San Diego to visit the San. Diego Chargers, per Aaron Wilson. Johnson started 13 games for the Colts last season in Chuck Pagano’s defense, but the Colts were not looking to bring him back in free agency. Now, brother John Pagano could have some interest in bringing Johnson over to San Diego to add more depth on the defensive front.

The Chargers lost a few veterans up front with Antonio Garay, Aubrayo Franklin and Vaughn Martin dipping out of town in free agency. The Chargers have youngsters Corey Liuget, Kendall Reyes and Cam Thomas to start on defense, but the depth behind them is really thin. We just signed Jarius Wynn a few days ago and adding Johnson would add another big body to the defensive front that can play the nose.

It would no way be a sexy signing, but it is depth. It is better than having a bunch of undrafted rookies fighting for jobs. Johnson has played in the NFL for 6 seasons and stands at 6-foot-3, 310 pounds.

More big bodies. More competition. Bring it on.

Hope Telesco inks him for depth. If not then that is something to look at for the draft but who and what rd?

I hope we get him for depth also. Don’t want to have to find a nose tackle in the draft also

Hmmmmm… Maybe this says a lot about where this draft is going. I expect we sign an outside line baker in FA next.

      Hook up that offense!

Come on Ernie, the offense is already hooked up. TT just needs to add studs for the future now.

TT philosophy; plenty of young, affordable talent, to go around. which allows him to focus on drafting playmakers with his picks.

TT says he plans on building through the draft. With the moves he’s made and hasn’t so far, I’m guessing he’s planning on getting the number one pick in the draft for the next three of four years. He has already proven to me he’s in way over his head

Wow! You have nothing to base this off of right now, He said he was going to build through the draft, then he doesn’t go out and spend a ton of money in FA and people wanna jump ship? Would you have rather he said one thing then done another? Not like we had enough money under the cap to do much in FA anyways. He’s trying to find serviceable players that will fit under the cap and i think hes been doing a great job of that so far.

Evaluating him at this stage of the game is not fair to him or his coaches. I’m more concerned about the new coaching staff.

In my opinion it’s going to take Telesco about three years to repair the damage that AJ Smith did to the Chargers. He has to hit big on his draft choices if he’s going to build through the draft. Then we have to find a way to keep good players from leaving. We’ve lost some great players over the last two years.
