so how does this tender thing work? just read an article from espn talking about a deadline to sign D Alexander by next week. if a team doesnt swoop him up would he be forced to sign his tender?

    • http://www.facebook.com/lostkiara Stefanie Smith

I just read that the deadline is April 19, 2013. I read that Vikings are showing some interest. Turned up somewhere on Sirius radio. Hopefully, he stays here.

Another team has to offer more than the low tender.. if they do, then Danario goes there. Not sure if we get another chance to counter. And as to being forced–no one can force another person to work for them. That would be indentured servitude. However, if he wants to play football, yes, then he would have to work for the low tender amount, I believe. I don’t think there is any arguing coming from Alexander. This is coming from the side of the Chargers–trying to keep him for only what is necessary.

so if he dont sign by the 19th we get to see him rocking the blue and gold this season?

        • 619chargers4life

if he dont sign with another team that is ?

          • http://boltbeat.com/ Ernie Padaon

dang… had this post ready for today and just pushed it live. If he doesn’t get signed, still think he has to sign the tender or he can sit out if he wants.

          • 619chargers4life

lol so a hold out in the making if he doesnt sign with another team. thats awesome. hope he stays and signs in a timely fashion

          • Pels04

I dont think he will hold out and he shouldnt. He should just be happy to have a job right now. He will play for us unless someone comes in and overpays for him and I dont see that happening because of his past injuries. Its actually pretty smart for the Chargers to tender him to the lowest tender. A good way to keep him and pay him the lowest amount possible

          • 619chargers4life

i dont think he will hold out either. but i didnt think VJax was such a money hungry player either

          • TheReturnOfMrBlanks

He better be on this team this season, he made all the games fun to watch last year. Rivers has the magic touch to this guy and I wouldn’t mess with that if I was him. Imagine Ponder’s sorry ass trying to get him the ball he could go right back to being a nobody with the quickness.

          • 619chargers4life

            aint that the truth

          • Pels04

VJ had stats and health on his side that he could use as leverage. thats something Danario doesnt have

          • http://www.facebook.com/lostkiara Stefanie Smith

I agree. I don’t think anything negative is coming from him. This is our side trying to ?? Actually, I don’t know what they are trying to do…Maybe keep him around at the lowest price?

          • http://www.facebook.com/lostkiara Stefanie Smith

Yep, Ernie. If he wants to play, it’s like a franchise tag. Play at the amount or sit out.

      • Pels04

The Chargers have 5 days to match any offer from opposing teams.

        • http://www.facebook.com/lostkiara Stefanie Smith

Thanks for the info. Man, I hope he sticks around.

          • Pels04

            Me too! Fingers crossed

    • TheReturnOfMrBlanks

      That’s a great question right there…..
