Teams Have Till April 19th to Offer Danario Alexander a Contract

There are teams that are interested in making an offer to San Diego Chargers WR Danario Alexander, but they are getting scared off because they don’t want to waste time if the Chargers are just going to match their offer, per Adam Caplan. Teams have until April 19th to make an offer on Danario. I’m sure some team will bring him in and see if they can get him to sign an offer sheet though.

At least the Chargers will know what to prep for with Danario by the April 25th draft. Let the countdown begin for the April 25th draft and for the April 19th deadline for teams to offer a deal to Danario.

Without Danario on the roster, we could be in the market for a receiver. We could try and get one in the draft (won’t mention any names any more) or try to pick up a receiver through free agency. Brandon Lloyd could be a cheap option that has had experience with Mike McCoy.

Danario helped change the game for the Chargers offense last year. Despite not having a solid offensive line, Philip Rivers felt comfortable throwing the ball in Danario’s direction and knowing that he would likely win the battle for the football. Having good targets for Philip Rivers is just as important as having a solid offensive line.

We need to retain the weapons we have and bring in more studs to get this offense rolling.

we need him here, injury prone or not.

    • http://boltbeat.com/ Ernie Padaon

we do need him… otherwise, we better find something to replace his production

      • Rob Base

        His replacement is Austin :)

        • http://boltbeat.com/ Ernie Padaon

          :)

        • arnie

nothing wrong with getting young healthy talent on the team.

        • http://www.facebook.com/lostkiara Stefanie Smith

Now that sounds like AJ. Just put a body in there to replace somebody Rivers was working with. Austin is good, but we don’t know how he will click with Rivers. We know how he clicked with Alexander.

          • Cgoodness13

In fairness, norv tried to use meachem like he used VJ.

  • 619chargers4life

and i would not be upset at all if we draft ur favorite WR . if all OL are gone and they dont want to trade down and ya boy is sitting there, which he most likely will be, then why not. im confident Tommy Boy is no AJ smith and we will get OL in the later rounds if we are forced to and they will be impact players. i get the feeling that this draft will be one of our best in recent memory. maybe its just positive thinking but this draft is deep for our team needs

  • http://www.facebook.com/lostkiara Stefanie Smith

They better figure it out sooner rather than later. Usually you pick the WR that your franchise QB is comfortable with. Can’t have this stinking revolving door each season. If Rivers likes this guy (Alexander) and has something going with him, then work HARD to keep him. Stop with the creativity. It’s not right to do to Rivers. Every time he blinks there is someone new out there and not any high flying FA. He gets one he is jiving with then we should keep him and not make him have to get comfortable AGAIN with some new ones. He has two new coaches to deal with. Enough is enough already.

    • http://boltbeat.com/ Ernie Padaon

I agree with that. He works well with him and should be given another year with him at the least if not more

  • TheReturnOfMrBlanks

What do you guys think of a Rolando Mcclain? I know they don’t want mental patients on this team but someones going to get him right?

    • TheReturnOfMrBlanks

I don’t remember this from last year but Bleacher Report had the bolts as his best place to land:

      http://bleacherreport.com/articles/1426301-rolando-mcclain-ranking-the-best-fits-for-disgruntled-raiders-lb/page/6

    • http://www.facebook.com/lostkiara Stefanie Smith

I don’t know much about him, but Russell-the guy that posts on here was saying that he had some serious conduct issues. If the Raiders cite him for conduct detrimental to the Raiders–guy has to be bad. Heard he had psychological issues, but this could all be internet baloney. I am going to see if I can find out something about this guy.

      • TheReturnOfMrBlanks

Oh my god, I just read enough about him to not even want to consider ever talking about him again more less signing him. He was a known gang member, one guy who worked with him when he was 19 said he exposed himself to children in a park restroom, would steal peoples food at school so he could eat, friends are all convicts……..yowser.

        • http://www.facebook.com/lostkiara Stefanie Smith

I don’t mind the stealing food if he was hungry. But the gang affiliations if he is really into that would not go over with the Chargers or the NFL. If he has kids, he probably settled down from that.. some of these stories are old. ..

Somewhere in the middle is the truth. He would not have entered the NFL with any talk of exposing himself to children. So maybe that is a fish story somebody is starting on the internet.

There are a couple guys in the NFL with horrific stories. With the right coaches and the drive, they are turning it around. I don’t know how some of these guys stuck with it. Some really had it rough growing up.

          • TheReturnOfMrBlanks

I agree, I’d really like to know the details on him from Leron. I wonder if they would approach Leron for his take on signing him.

          • http://www.facebook.com/lostkiara Stefanie Smith

I am sure they would. Kid stuff is one thing. And a lot of it is probably not true. Stealing food—no problem. There are guys in the NFL that were left with NO parents, on their own and taking care of younger siblings. If anyone has to steal food to eat, I have no issue with that. I think the Chargers’ staff would talk to Leron for sure, to see what the deal is, if they are interested.

        • http://www.facebook.com/pete.spinning Pete Spinning

So… head case… needs babysitting… possible exposure to a child… conduct detrimental on the RAIDERS… assault (of whatever kind)… gang affiliated… arrested there times… teammates think he’s a weirdo… Nobody traded for him… Team put him on the waiver wire. All this = distraction.

Ummmmmm… I’m for against it? He told the Raiders he didn’t want to play for the them, and they drafted him anyway. Wanted to be closer to home. SD isn’t any closer to Alabama… know what I’m sayin?

          • TheReturnOfMrBlanks

These guys who said they grew up with him said all of the gang members in his area were scared of him. Lol I don’t know why you would make that up.

          • http://www.facebook.com/pete.spinning Pete Spinning

HAHAHA… They were probably scared because he’d already been stealing their lunch money for years! Or his gang affiliations would “put a cap in yo ass if you mess wit Lil’ Rondo… he gonna be our NFL supa stah… free tickets, n all that… representin’ our hood”. With all these connections he may be able to run a drug trafficking operation, like that dude on the Bears did… Lol.

      • RussinSactown

I was reading up on him on CBS Sports. His first year he had like 180+ tackles. Last year he had 60. He was arrested on a window tint ticket and he signed a false name (Dumb move, I know) He was arrested for 3rd degree assault in 2011. The question is can he cousin La Ron get him on task if he was brought here.
I see him this way: Lots of talent. Huge head case. Would probably need a babysitter in the off hours.

        • http://www.facebook.com/lostkiara Stefanie Smith

The false name was “F*ck y’all”. That is what he signed his name as, on that ticket. lol. They asked him to sign his real name and he refused. If that is all he did, he may be a block head, but not that bad.

          • RussinSactown

He would be interesting only if we could get some assurance that he’s not going to repeat that again. Granted, who wouldn’t want to say F*ck Y’all to the police. But you don’t do it, at least without a super bowl ring on.

          • http://boltbeat.com/ Ernie Padaon

This is amazing.. Is that story for real?

          • http://www.facebook.com/lostkiara Stefanie Smith

Yeah, I read it doing research on what exactly his problems were. I will try and find the site, but not a nutball site-some regular sports site that gives stats. He’s been outrageous. He also had an assault charge- (not sure if convicted) when he fired a weapon. There are other stories going around but I never read about those.

Yeah, he did sign his fix it ticket (tinted window violation) with F*ck Y’all. They wanted him to take it off the ticket and put his real name on there and he refused so he got some other violation for putting a fake name on a ticket. lol

Somebody on here said he had gang affiliations and some horrible other things–but I never read any of that. The real bad stuff- NFL and any team would have flushed that out before signing him so probably not true.

Still looking for the nature of the problems with the Raiders, but he did have trouble there. Still trying to find out what the problem was. They suspended him for “conduct detrimental”. For what, I don’t know.

    • Cgoodness13

McCoy said everyone they bring in will have a clean slate, so I don’t think it would be a crazy move.

      • http://www.facebook.com/lostkiara Stefanie Smith

He’s been arrested a few times and one was for assault. No, that is not what McCoy means. Would we ever consider picking up Titus Young and give him a clean slate? No. You learn from what is out there also.

He was also suspended for a few games for something he did on the Raiders’ team. This whole notion of having a clean slate with the Chargers–guess we did that with Gaither, eh? His entire work history was out there for us to see: We didn’t come up with his nickname of Big Lazy KC and Baltimore came up with that. If we choose to ignore what is right there, we get what we deserve.

        • TheReturnOfMrBlanks

I guess he’s married with 2 kids now but that didn’t stop him from being a weirdo on the Raiders, I wonder what he did over there? Might be like a Ron Artest type story where he needs to grow up, get alittle age behind him and maybe even babysat on a reg. like Russell says. I’d be really curious to see what Leron’s view is on him, he would have all the juice.

          • http://www.facebook.com/lostkiara Stefanie Smith

Hard to tell. He smarted off to a police officer and signed his name,. “F*ck y’all” and when they asked him to put down his real name, I read he refused. I thought that was sort of hilarious. But that’s just me. There was some assault issue also–him shooting a gun at someone.. The article said any team that takes him would need to have strong team leaders and coaches to keep him in line and not let him go to his home town. lol
He needs the Bengals coach to fix him up. That guy makes everyone good and improves them.
He was also really at odds with this new GM and coach, I guess. Couple that with not really producing–disaster. They probably could have overlooked stuff if he had panned out better. I don’t know.

He was also suspended for 2 or 3 games from the Raiders.

    • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1672216122 Daryl Peek

Given that his cousin LeRon is on the BOLT roster I’d have no problem with signing Rolando. Mcclain and Butler could be a lethal combo for years to come.

    • http://www.facebook.com/pete.spinning Pete Spinning

What if we got him, and he signed his contract “F**k Y’all”?

      • TheReturnOfMrBlanks

        Lol good one Pete.

    • http://boltbeat.com/ Ernie Padaon

I wouldn’t be too find of this pickup… Bad apple

    • jamfed

Seems like a good fit for Baltimore, NYG or Cin…

      • TheReturnOfMrBlanks

Right dude, far far away from us.

  • blu3ny3llow

Idk what’s going to happen with Alexander …but I don’t think they should spend a pick on a WR this year makes no sense to me

    • http://boltbeat.com/ Ernie Padaon

Think about this… Vincent Brown has never been injury free since joining the team… Malcom Floyd always finds a way to land funny… Danario, we all know that story… Soooo

  • http://www.facebook.com/davidwu619 David Wu

I really hope they don’t go after Lloyd. I remember reading somewhere that he drops a lot of easy catches and is an off the field distraction. Last thing we need is another FA WR bust, that would make 3 or 4 can’t keep count anymore

    • http://boltbeat.com/ Ernie Padaon

I also remember something where he and McCoy didn’t agree on some things

      • http://boltbeat.com/ Ernie Padaon

        So you might be right

  • JoseSD

I seriously doubt DX is going anywhere I just read somewhere that in the last 4 years only one RFA was signed to a different team, RB Mike Bell left the Saints for the Eagles, they also said last year there were 40 RFAs zero left the original team. This year there are 42 RFA and only one has even visited another team. I feel like most teams are done signing players for the most part, with the occasional depth signing here and there like the bolts did signing Wynn. Seems like the left over free.agents have seen the market and are waiting until after the draft to sign
