San Diego Chargers Draft Watch: Tavon Austin

I have been on a Tavon Austin kick as of late. I figured I might as well write a post about it since I haven’t even put one of those together, solely focused on us selecting Tavon Austin. Last season, I had this same kind of love for Mark Barron and he ended up getting selected before we even had a chance. Will Tavon Austin be available for us to select at 11.

I know a ton of you think I am nuts to select a wide receiver with our first round pick. The best depth on the team is at wide receiver right now and there are so many holes in other places.

I am a firm believer of selecting the best player available and I think Tavon Austin could be that guy. Why wouldn’t you want a talent like that?

First off, slot receivers are huge weapons for teams now. Victor Cruz. Wes Welker. We don’t have that type of receiver on our team.

Vincent Brown looks like he should be the starter on the outside. Danario Alexander isn’t a slot receiver. Mike McCoy is talking about using Danny Woodhead out in the slot already. Just get the ball in Tavon’s hands and he makes things happen. He can be our kick returner and punt returner.

A left tackle won’t be available in the first round. We need to get weapons on offense. Get the best player available.
