The San Diego Chargers will get a little head start from the rest of the league in their offseason workout programs. They will get to start their offseason workout program today. Other teams will have to wait a couple of week until they get to start their work.
Our head start is a result of canning Norv Turner and hiring a new head coach. All teams with new head coaches get to begin their programs a little earlier than the rest of the league. It gives players and coaches a little time to adjust and get to know each other.
In this phase of the offseason workouts, “Phase One”, players are barely able to do much. The main focus is on strength and conditioning. With new strength and conditioning coaches in town, it would be good for the players to get started with the new staff. Wouldn’t want to struggle through some of the conditioning drills when things get real.
Here are some other dates coming up for the Chargers off-season schedule:
First Day: April 1
OTA Offseason Workouts: May 13-15, May 20-22, June 3-6
Voluntary Minicamp: April 16-18
Mandatory Minicamp: June 11-13
