Oakland Raiders Closing In On Trade for Seattle Seahawks QB Matt Flynn

It seems that the Oakland Raiders are about to bring another NFC West backup quarterback to the AFC West. The Kansas City Chiefs started the trend by bringing over Alex Smith earlier in the season and now the Oakland Raiders are close to trading for Matt Flynn from the Seattle Seahawks.

The deal isn’t completed just yet, but it seems that they are getting close. If this is anything like the coaching hiring process, this could all just fall apart. Seen this “close” designation a little too often.

The next move would be the Raiders parting ways with veteran Carson Palmer. That also means that the Raiders wouldn’t need to look at quarterback with their first pick in the draft. Sorry Geno.

Already hearing comments of Matt Flynn being the new Rich Gannon from those Raider fans. Time will tell if that is the case. There is definitely movement going on around this division. In the last pair of seasons, all teams in the AFC West (except ours of course) will have new starting quarterbacks.

What do you think about the new quarterback that is about to join the division?

Good for for the Raiders, I hope their draft pick compensation isn’t too crazy. Like us they have a whole lotta building to do.

  • Rob Base

Rivers would say well heck I love competition bring it. Or wow he’s a heck of a player! Just more ish we will here from Oakland fans.

    • TheReturnOfMrBlanks

lol our whole division is all good ol fashioned slow white QBs, unless Pryor starts at some point and messes it up.

      • http://boltbeat.com/ Ernie Padaon

hahahahah…. didnt even think of that

        • TheReturnOfMrBlanks

We dont have none of that read option crap in our division! Watch us all be horrible against the read option. lol

      • boltingindiego

        nah smith aint slow.

        • TheReturnOfMrBlanks

Your right, he’s the leader in the 40 out of this bunch but that’s about it. He’s not going to be breaking 20 yard runs or anything.

        • http://www.facebook.com/pete.spinning Pete Spinning

He’s just slower than Kaepernick… zing! LOL..

  • Cgoodness13

Wow the afc west is beginning to look like a real division now lol

  • 619chargers4life

i just hope when all this smoke clears and the draft is here we obtain one of the top 3 Tackles. i wonder how bad Tommy Boy feels we need a Tackle. i wonder how highly they think of Armstead or Watson. i would be happy to see any type of trades on Draft day for a Tackle.

    • TheReturnOfMrBlanks

I’d love to see Lane J pushing Matthew’s through a pile so he can get those extra yards he doesn’t want. I’m also curious if Whizenator would use Lane J as a TE near the goal line. That would be so freakin sick

      • 619chargers4life

        oh yeah

In his latest article on Chargers.com, TT said he is definitely open to trading up to get his guy, if he wants him badly enough. What if we get Fisher? Jaws would drop.

      • TheReturnOfMrBlanks

Really? would we be crazy enough to trade for the #1 pick? I can’t imagine trading any of our first 4 rounders. Wouldn’t really want to trade next years either…….for Fisher though why not.

        • http://www.facebook.com/pete.spinning Pete Spinning

Maybe. It is looking more and more like we will have to trade up to get a starting tackle. That’s what the fans want, right? A starting left tackle. Word on the street its that… after Joekel is taken… Philly, Arizona, San Diego, and Miami are all very interested in that position, and somebody will trade up. You know the Dolphins are crazy on draft day.. Lol. Arizona isn’t the only team we have to worry about taking Johnson.

      • 619chargers4life

        i would be stoked

  • TheReturnOfMrBlanks

Matt Flynn you’ve just been traded to the Raiders!

    Matt: “Awe Shit”

  • http://www.facebook.com/pete.spinning Pete Spinning

I’ll say this. He was considered to be a BIG free agency signing for Seattle, and simply had to beat out Tavaris, and a 3rd round rookie QB (even though Wilson is a bad ass). Still, you would expect him to have even the slightest edge over a rookie, having NFL experience. And he rode the pine all year.
Also, reports are that The Palmer wasn’t taking a restructured contract, but the Raiders had NO intention of releasing him. That was yesterday…. did they change their mind that quick? If I had TP, and could draft Geno.. I’m not sure I would go this route anyway. Is Flynn going for THAT cheap?

    Way cool

The Raiders need to be consistant wiithth players. Find a QB worthy of keeping for 5 years. A team cannot win by changing the QB each year. Find a leader, not a quitter.

If we get Flynn, I eagerly await a fierce QB competition between him and Pryor. May the best man start!
Those of you who like Palmer, the guy is a perennial loser. He has some skills, some beautiful throws, but some terrible decision making, even when not under pressure.

Terrell’s arm strength isn’t shit. Couldn’t thread balls into windows if he wanted too. I think that Matt Flynn has better arm strength and accuracy. He would get the starting gig for sure

Somehow I invited Raiders fans on here with this post… Sigh

  • Rob Base

Way different subject but on the web it shows tweet from pee wee Herman congratulating Romo on his new contract! I started rolling you gotta check it out!
